  Yesterday at work while I was sitting at a lunch table, I had opened my wallet to get some money out when one of my old tickets fell out. The guy next to me said, "How much money are you going to give me if you win?" I looked at him and said "Well, it's an old ticket and I didn't win anything." Which was true, but I got the feeling that the guy was half-joking. I was tempted to say "Nothing. Since we aren't in a pool together and we aren't even friends." I just smiled and kept my mouth shut.

  Has anything similar happend to others while at work when the topic of the lottery came up?

  It seems everyone plays the lottery and everyone frowns at it all at the same time.

  I have had that happen. I said, "As much as you would give me if you ever win. 0...." (laughter erupts)

  At my supermarket there's a lottery terminal & a scratch-off machine. I try to tell customers and co-workers NY Lotto is a ripoff; Mega Millions pays much better.

  I have that happen to me quite often.  My reply, How much are you willing to contribute towards my loses?  That usually settels that little matter.  Although, I know they are joking it really puts a lid on it.

  me and this guy at work were arguing over which you could make money on easier and it was between the lottery and casino.i told him that i thought you could have a better chance with lotto.the next week i won 5 grand in a week on pick 4.that shut him up,lol

  I had people ask me the same question and my answer was: I will give you your share, that would be half, when you pay for Your HALF of the tickets! And I hold my hand out! LOL. I have had people tell me I was wasting my money on the tickets that people don’t actually win the lottery! I tell them I went to the store the other day and handed the lotto clerk 50 cents and went the next day, handed them a ticket, and they gave me 250 bucks change! Ha! That will make them think!

  I think some people get jobs at places that sell lottery tickets so they can say "Good luck and don't forget me when you win" to every lottery player.  One time I cashed in a $500 ticket and the clerk asked if I had forgot her tip.  She made the comments half jokingly but I think she was really serious and would have been pissed if I had given her an extra 50¢.  I gave her a wink and a smile instead.

  I know at least 4 people personally, that have won $5,000 and more in Vegas.  Unfortunately, I don't know anyone personally that won $5,000 or more with the lottery.

  Yes I had that answer also awhile back in another thread. I could write a book on answers to give to these types of people.

  I've redone my website.  Go to www.dr-ew.com.  I kept a lot of the old stuff, and I've added some new stuff.  Look for more new stuff in the coming weeks.

  Millionaire Raffle, a groundbreaking new game developed by the Pennsylvania Lottery, will create four new millionaires on New Year’s Eve.

  Another overinflated jackpot lie. As the lottery said that is "before taxes." Just how are they creating "millionaires," when the IRS is getting $250,000 of it?

  More like "hundred thousandaires." How can they get away with all these lies? Why don't they make the prize one million dollars AFTER taxes? I am getting quite sick of all the deception between them and the IRS. Unless someone has a couple of million that they do not have to touch, and can live off of the interest, they are not millionaires.

  Living off of $2,000 a month interest from $700,000 also does not make you a millionaire. Perhaps years down the road you will be if you save, and have a lot of compounding interest.

  I know it shouldn't surprise me, but when people make comments like that it does. People seem to have lost their manners somewhere along the way and I just think it's rude to say things like that. I have never asked a stranger if he will tip me if he wins the lottery or if he will spilt the jackpot with me.
