None of the above. Utah's Mormons are the main poulation, and they are anti-gambling. Nevada doesn't need the revenue because they have so much coming in from the casinos. THe other states are low population states and the state wouldn't make enough profit from them.

I voted "arkansas." That state seems to have the most activity at the moment. See the news article "AG certifies proposed amendment for casinos, lottery."

However, I doubt that any of the states listed in this poll will have a lottery within the next five years, if ever. Certainly not Alabama. If you think the fight over the lottery in North Carolina was ugly, just wait until it's brought up again here.

Mississippi has its casinos now..so I dont think a lottery will pass here either..would be nice though to be able to play in my own state..but I dont really think it will happen..

I'd say Arkansas. It's also nice that Alaska and Hawaii aren't included. Alaska is the least likely to get a lottery.

i would love arkansas or mississippi to get one.i'm in the tri-state area.its about 15 minutes to arkansas or mississippi from where i live.ashame either one doesn't have a lottery.....

however mississippi has casinos and arkansas has greyhounds and horses so maybe they don't want lottery to come compete for their dollars......

Doesn't Alabama have dog racing, and could the source of the opposition be coming from that lobby?

On the casino / legalized gambling side, it was thought that the states that would never have any form of legalized gambling (other than horse races, if they already had them, such as Arkanasas) would be:
Utah - because of the Mormons (however, there are Mormon owned casinos! - The Mormons say owning a "gaming" business is not "gambling", the players are gambling)

Tennessee - because of the Baptists
and
Hawaii - because the people AEM running the AHEM illegal games simply don't want the competition.
But now Tennessee has a lottery, whic was "never going to happen" either, so.....

Unless I'm reading the results page wrong, 41 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico have lottery, the poll question lists five states without lottery, what ones are the other four?

North Carolina isn't listed on the results page because it's lottery is brand new and doesn't yet have online games.
Wyoming doesn't count since no one lives there.
Hawaii and Alaska aren't on the list either.

I've always said that about North Dakota and Delaware, Delaware is just a corporation, and you never see anyone on a game show from North Dakota.

I voted Alabama, because it did get on the ballot there a couple of years ago, but was defeated. I'm sure they'll try again soon.
I don't mind if Arkansas and Mississippi don't get a lottery anytime soon, they'll just have to keep coming across the border to Louisiana to play!
