I don't tell everyone, but I don't try at all to keep it a secret either. I feel ok with playing the lottery (staying within a lottery budget) and if someone else doesn't like it that is there problem.
Although frankly, I don't think I would mention it in a job interview.

Are you open about playing the lottery or are you a "closet" player?
Sometimes I get a very negative reaction when I tell someone I buy lottery tickets. I once told a manager on a job interview that I am seeking a long term career where I can grow with the company and challenge myself blah, blah. But I added jokingly "so I'll be working here until I'm 75 or win the lottery." (bad idea) The man said he thinks people who buy lottery tickets are lazy and that he wouldn't even take the money if he won. He said he was raised to believe in making money the old fashioned way. What a jerk!
Anyway, do people at work or family know you play and/or post on a lottery board? What kind of reaction do you get?
Yes. It is a topic of conversation now, with friends and family. Goes something like this,"Been playin' lately?" "Oh yeah, a couple weeks ago had a good run about $600.00 on Bonus Match 5 MD. but only little ones since; waiting on a big one since I started using my new analysis and prediction software. You know this software has paid for itself 10X over since I bought a month ago. Yeah it gets all the numbers every couple of days. I think I might invest in doing a couple of wheels with 14 or 16 numbers and see what happens. But you know what? It is a pain in the toucas to fill out 460 to 600 play slips. There are programs that can fill the slips out for you but you have to be formatting expert with a millimeter ruler to try and get them lined up, and bonus match 5 slips are sold 9 plays to a slip in three groups of three $2.00 ea. for a total of $6.00 per slip, software can't handle it etc. Conversation is healthy no matter what you talk about, as long as you enjoy what you're talking about.
A lot of the people I know that play are not computer types, they play by hunches. One guy in particular for the past two months has hit 6 times PICK3 MD. and LUCKY#'s DC playing the "combo" option 20 times on the same number it costs $6.00 for a six way and $3.00 for a three way for a total cost of $120.00 or $60.00 respectively, the box hit pays straight. When he hits he has 20 $500 tickets! $10,000, Bada Bing! No taxes! He drives around all day cashin em in. Past couple of months have been good for him. LOL

I tell close family and friends, but that's about all.
I was behind a lady in a convenience store recently. She was adamantly complaining to the clerk how these people waste their money buying Lottery tickets. There is a better of chance of getting struck by lightning than winning, the lady continued. The funny part is that while she was talking she was holding her purchase, which was three or four packs of cigarettes. To me she is typical of the snooty types who are critical of lottery players.
After she (finally) moved from the counter, I proudly purchased my Lottery tickets.

I dont discuss it much anymore, I used to but it was kind of that "sucker born every minute" look that I got. At the same time those were the same people that would ask what there cut would be if I did win.......
An interesting question would be "How many people know that you are a member of the LP?"
I dont tell many people about this site.. Reason being.. don't want them to know what I win???
