Just wondering how others try to improve their good luck if they believe in it. Haven't found anything that makes a difference including finding four-leaf clovers.

I think there are lucky - and unlucky - people, but I don't think things can be lucky.... although a lot of people carry "luck pieces".

I had one boss in the casinos who insisted that some people are just "born under the right star" and that's all there is to it.

Sports and gambling are rampant with superstitions and luck stories, good and bad.

Baseball players believe that each bat has so many hits "in it", for example.

Many of them have a superstition about walking on - or not walking on - the foul line going back to the field or the dugout.

I had a casino boss that threatened to fire people for whistling at night.

Personally, my one lottery superstitiopn is I'll just go somewhere else if a "stroker" is giving the clerk a hard time.

I do think there is such a thing as luck, but I'm not sure how you'd go about changing it if you don't have good luck.

Mark Twain was credited with saying "The harder I work, the luckier I get". Working a little harder might not make you luckier, but the rewards of your extra effort will make others who work less think you're luckier they are.

Well, here's something about changing luck:

This happened in Las Vegas on a Memorial Day weekend in the late 1980's.

(The pending numbers thread made me think of this, not quite pending numbers but this is a story of some kind of "influence").

There's a hotel in Las Vegas that caters to the Hawaiin trade. Hawaii is a very pro-labor union state. On this particular weekend, the hotel owners (mutliple properties) had some kind of labor dispute going on with on of their other properties.

The Hawaiins got wind of this and rounded up people, lots of people, to march around this one hotel / casino with signs that read "Boce Boyd" and chanting "Boce Boyd" (bad luck to Boyd).

The next night a Hawaiin fellow was the shooter on a crap table and rolled the dice for an oncredible 3 hours and 6 minutes. (This is a "monster" of a roll and definitley not the norm.) That one table alone lost $750,000 on his roll.

Coincidence, or ????

A gambling buddy of mine said everyone has 15 minutes of luck every day. it can come in many forms like catching that cup of coffee before it spills, avoiding that accident at the red light, things of this nature. i have seen people play keno and they would do good for about 10 minutes then no matter what not win another game all day. Here's the bad part i think my luck comes when i'm sleeping sometimes cause i do finally wake up. Seriously during the course of the day take note of how many times things might have gone bad/wrong if only you at the last second/minute you didn't prevent it.
There are lots of books about Luck. One while not all about luck is (Think and Grow Rich) by Napoleon Hill.
Luck is something you have to make, be aware of and use to your advantage. can you change your luck, of course you can. Positive thinking. Getting rid of negative things in your life. trying to get all major problems under control. This way there is no dark cloud following you around. Deal with any problems head on and not let them pile up. If you say i'll take care of this problem later and then another problem pops up now you have two problems to sort out. A lot of people get jammed up because of this when they have more problems than soultions they are taxing their luck.

The instructor we had in dealer's school in Vegas was a legend in the town at that tiem. He had this theory that we all get at least one night where every dime you've ever lost gambling and much more is "trying to come back to you" - but you have to be aware of it when it's happeneing and most people aren't.
That's why, he said, they would for example, win 22 hands of blackjack in a row without ever having increased their bet.

Some1 said positive thinking creates your own luck...that is very true, and some one also said that the stars have something to do with it, that to is true. Is it possible to be luckier then the person who was born under the right conditions? yes. Is it possible to double your luck even if you were born under the right starts? yes.
I believe some people have it easier then others. There is a downside to having luck born to you...you might not take advantage of it even if its readily there in your face because you do not feel you worked hard enough for it to use it. You may feel that its just to easy to believe and you may feel a sense of inaccomplishment if you take advantage of the luck already given to you...and so you create bad luck for yourself
Downside to having luck not born to you...you work so hard till you get all taxed out and you give up be4 your big break was about to happen, right before you relized you just created your own luck, your own dream reality...and so you wish you had luck born to you under the stars when youv'e been creating it for your self all along, but you want things to be readily available to you no matter what so you don't have to work to create the luck your've been creating.

Thats what i have to say about it, personally, i fell in the first catagory some years ago...

I think when you do kind and nice things for others and not expect anything in return, that increases your luck. Kind gesture goes a long way.

41years ago (come this September 18) I used up all the luck G-d gave me when I convinced the woman of my dreams to marry me.
Today, I tell her that to win the lottery, any lottery, she will have to be the one to buy the ticket for I consumed all my luck getting her to marry me.
I have not have a lucky day since. LOL
