I wrote to the Massachusetts' Lottery Website to see if they could explain to me how you play their pick4 game called: "number game" And this is what they replied to me:
The game is a bit confusing because there are things you don't understand and i've heard two people mentioned they don't understand it fully...
It looks like you can bet just like betslip for .25 cents..Ain't that wonderfull..I too hope i am understanding this game correctly...Anybody feel free to correct me...
This is the reply i received: Hope it could help...
Whether you win and how much you win depends on how you play. This explanation should help.
The Numbers Game is based on a pari-mutuel payoff system. In other words, the size of the payoff is determined by how many people play and how many win. There is a single pot made up of 60% of all the money bet for each day.
The game design is based on daily drawing of a 4 digit number. There are 2 separate betting slips…the 1&2 digit betting slip and the 3&4 digit betting slip.
3&4 digit bets would include:
All 4 exact order, all 4 any order
Ist 3 exact order, last 3 exact order
1st 3 any order, last 3 any order
You can play 3&4 digit exact bets for $.25 to $5.00, and play $.50 to $5.00 for any order bets
1&2 digit bets are always exact order bets and can be made for $.50 to $10.00
First 2 exact order
Middle 2 exact order
Last 2 exact order
1st digit
2nd digit
3rd digit
4th digit
