I know there was a system "if ya know one number" awhile back, this is kinda related to that system, but for the pick 4 in straight form.
If I choose 1 key digit to play in the pick 4 in straight form, and I want to play all the possible combinations containing that digit, how many combinations would I have to play?
Also, what if I only play the doubles combinations that contain that 1 key digit instraight form?
Or what if I use 1 double digit pair (such as 22, 33, 44, 66, etc) as my key digit and I only want to play the doubles combinations that contain my 2 digit pair straight. How many combos would i have to play then to cover them all?

1000 ...it then becomes like pick 3

doubles account for slightly less than half of all combos so after your key reduction to 1000 if you only wanted doubles you would be left with ~460 or so

since you dont know in what position that double will fall (it could be 22xx or x22x or 2xx2 etc)
you have to cover all doubles then so the answer is ~4600
Don't try to cover all combos because you will not make much profit and since you dont know maybe that key number doesn't fall or a triple falls when you expect a double than you lose all the money...play few $ for fun

Thanks so much for answering my question for me, I can tell you are a mathematical genius (I'm mathematically retarded). I really wasn't planning on playing all those combinations, just as a way to cut down the possibilities when trying to choose my final plays. Thanks again.

I had another question you may be willing to answer for me.
I know you said if I choose 1 key digit , and want to play all the straight pick 4 combinations that contain that digit in straight form that there would be 1000 combinations left (like the pick 3).
Do you mean that there would be 1000 combinations if I knew which one position my key digit was going to appear in (position 1,2,3, or 4)? Or do you mean if I want to play all the straight combos containing my key digit , but I'm not sure which position my key digit is actually going to show up in?
What if for example, I choose a key digit that is likely to be drawn in the pick 4, but I have no idea which position that key digit will show up in (position 1,2,3 or 4) but I just want to play all the possible Straight combinations that contain my "Key digit" in whatever position my "Key digit" actually shows up in?
Sory if I'm having trouble describing this question. Thanks alot for your time.

yes, the 1000 combinations are left if you know the exact position of your key number...
if you don't know the exact position of your key number then there would be 3439 possible combinations left
