The advantages are filter advantages.

If I didn't make mistakes there are more odd sums there, but maybe in the long run more or less they might even out enough.

So you would be right, here on Tx there are some repeat numbers, but I don't know their average stats.

Yes, too many combos, for just 2 filters and when combined they might fail way too much.

One should pick filters patterns very carefully as failures compound.

I think that I showed some of that on some old posts.

The thing about stats and therefore filters is What do you see when you see this, or how do you see it?
Do you see a line as 1 whole thing?
Do you see this as 5 individual things?
Do you see it in both ways?
Do you also see it as 10 individual characters, but maybe related in some stats ways?
Do you see rows or columns or rows and columns both?
Do you see all the characters in all the lines related in stats ways or not?
Is a sum just a sum or many filters in there in the one?
Do you see the individual characters as single digits, pairs, triads, quads, etc, or not?
Do you see the digits as filter and prediction patterns or just as numbers-digits?

Here in Virginia our Cash 5 game is a 5/34 game. You can play for $0.25 a line and win $25,000 for a 5/5 ticket. All prizes are NOT paramutual and there can be 10 winners for $25,000 a piece and everyone will receive their $25,000. I think VA is the best Cash 5 game b/c you can play 4 lines for a dollar, its only 5/34 and you get all your prize money regardless of our many winners. However, I too am looking at how to cut back on combos here.

At their site I didn't find much information, but they seem to have the cash 5 game 2 times a day.

As you say for 25 Cents they pay $25 000

For 50 Cents, $50 000 and

For $1, $100 000.

There is no mention of any lower prices and might as well as they would not pay nothing any-way.

I guess that all of the money goes for the Jackpot price.

All the states should do the same as you all do.

Imagine winning $25 000 for a 25 Cent ticket.

Here on Tx you are lucky to get $4 000 to $17 000 for a $1 ticket, it is very bad here.

Either the money goes just for the jackpot or is given more evenly for all prizes.

When deciding fixed payouts for lower prizes rather than having a pari-mutual scheme, the potential amount that might has to be paid out has to be considered or the states could end up not making 50% of sales or at worst losing money. In either case, the state would have no reason to have a lottery.

To answer the question about the VA Cash 5 prizes....

$0.25 Bet Pays: Match 5= $25,000

Match 4= $25.00....which I have matched 4 times with two of those times on the same day Day and Night draw.

Match 3= $1.25

$0.50 Bet Pays: Match 5= $50,000

Match 4= $50.00

Match 3= $2.50

$1.00 Bet Pays: Match 5= $100,000

Match 4= $100

Match 3= $5.00
