Hey everyone! I'm a newbie here but a long time lurker. I've a few questions to ask about public anonymity. As a NYC resident, I have yet to hear of an anonymous NY winner. Every winner's revealed to the public. No matter how much they've won. So I've decided to finally read the rules and regulations on the NY lottery website. I've come across these two factors:
-(a) A winning Mega Millions Ticket is deemed to be owned by the person or entity named on the ticket or, in the case of a ticket not completed with name, by the claimant.
-(g) Each prize winner shall be subject to a publicity release as set forth in Part 2803 of these regulations.
So here's my question. Let's say the winner opened and funded a blind trust fund. Can they remain anonymous to the public, if they claimed their prize through the trust? What if they signed the trusts name in back of the ticket? Would the representative of the trusts, be able to claim the winnings? Can you trust the lawyer, if the trusts name's on the ticket? How does one collect winnings through a blind trust? I've asked these same questions on law board sites but to no avail. I need to know! Just in case!
