See, I personally never understood the whole "retailer gets awarded" thing. Why? They're doing their jobs. I don't get awarded at work for giving a patient the right food. If they want to win, they should wager their own money and give it a go, not wait for one of their customers to be successful and then beg for a tip. If it were me, I'd have called the lottery hotline while standing right there and reported the incident claiming that he asked for a tip (not allowed to) and that he basically threatened to not pay out. I bet that would make him think twice about asking for a tip again. It's like buying a pack of gum and the retailer asking for a piece, it's just a no go in my book.
Even when someone wins a jackpot, and supposedly the retailer is supposed to get $10,000, I don't get why? These retailers think they're special for pushing a button and handing you a ticket. In case you're wondering, I'm so bitter over this because someone here recently won a jackpot, I forget the details exactly to how much. As far as I know, this retailer got the $10,000 bonus, then had enough nerve to go to the news stations complaining about the person who won the jackpot, and how they felt they deserved "at least $25,000" and ran this guys name through all over the news. It's things like this that make me think they need to get rid of that bonus completely.
