Anyone that has won 5000 or less have any claiming tips or things to be careful of when you claim? I won 2,500 and am going to claim tomorrow, hoping I have no monies owed to florida state agencies. I heard all they are concerned of in other states is child support, student loans(i think) and irs debts. Also wondering if they will cut me a check tomorrow or i have to wait a couple days? I had a similar post on play4 forum, but not much help. I am thankful for the help i did get though.
I am trying 4141 combo 2day. last nite I played cash 3: 235 and 222. what comes out is 225. trying to figure out how to stop missing by one number all the time, happens about 10 times a week.

Q. Where do I go to claim my Lottery prize?
A. Prizes of $599.99 or less may be redeemed at any Florida Lottery retailer. Prizes from $600 to $250,000, and POWERBALL prizes of up to $1 million, may be redeemed at a Lottery district office. Prizes of $250,000 or more, with the exception of POWERBALL prizes ranging up to $1 million, must be claimed at Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee. Lottery tickets may also be mailed to Lottery headquarters for redemption; however, the risk of mailing tickets remains with the player.
A Winner Claim Form will need to be completed for prizes of $600 or more. These may be obtained from any Florida Lottery retailer, district office or on this Web site. For more information on how to claim a prize, click here. To find a Lottery retailer near you, click here. For the phone number, address and hours of operation of Lottery offices throughout the state, click here.

You should have a number you can call of the state that will tell you if there are any claims against you or not. I am from Kansas and had a friend that hit a 20,000 winner and the lottery gave him the number to call in advance to see if he was alright. Might ask your lottery first by phone to see if you can get the number ...if not try the state office. Dont know if this will hellp you but thats all I know.

When I claimed my $1,000 win, I noticed that the section authorizing them to take your photo was marked optional so I didn't sign it. They came back and offered me a free T-Shirt and a baseball hat if I signed. So if it's optional, hold out for more freebies. They cut the check there right on the spot and handed it to me before taking the picture. We had to set it down on a chair so that it wouldn't be in the picture as the W-2G form with it has your SSN on it.
On the small wins, they report the winnings to the IRS but they don't with hold any taxes so either set aside a third to cover your taxes or collect all the losing scratch-off tickets you can find from the garbage bins at the store so that you can claim the loss against your winnings. Gambling losses can only be claimed against gambling winnings. You'll need about 125 of those $20 tickets to writeoff the $2,500 that you won.
They don't really care about the small wins, it's the bigger ones with the withholdings that they'll check to see if you owe the government any money. Even with the withholdings, you'll need to set some aside for taxes cause the withholding is only 25% and depending on the prize, the taxes could be in excess of 35%.

Everystate is different, for example here in mich i think you have to win more than $1100.00 before they take child support whereas if you owe to any state agency they take it right away.

Congrats on the hit!!!!
These are the kinda problems I like to have- how do I cash my winners? (although mine is normally finding a store that will cash a $250 winner)

It's pretty simple in Ohio, have the ticket validated at any store, they give you voucher that you take to a bank, and collect you're winnings along with W2-G. Part of the form included things like back child support and all the boxes had to be checked and notarized.
