looks like some one won the jackpot. not sure if the promotion spured the sales or it is coincidence. Will be interesting to know how much in sales growth was due to promotion.

Again winner or no winner, odds of winning SM are still the same.

I think the jackpot on Thursday should have reaped the benefit of the "Buy 5 Get 3" promotion. As you can see, simply the number of tickets matching 3 numbers ($3) simply doubles than the drawing on Jan 27. We had 18446 $3 prizes on Feb 3, but only 8948 $3 prizes on Jan 27 drawing.

In the South, in Virginia, Georgia and Kentucky, since this month, they are rolling out a Pick 6 game called Decades of Dollars, what their jackpot offers is either $250,000 per year for 30 years (total $7.5 million) or $4 million in lump sum cash. However, they pick their jackpot from a pool of 47 balls, making the odd of winning a jackpot (matching 6 out of 47) become 1 in 10.7 million. Also, each ticket costs $2. There is a break-even prize of matching 2 balls. The overall odd is 1 in 6.2.

New York Lottery does not need another Take 5 game. It already has one. If you say Sweet Million is unattractive because of a low jackpot amount, I would not agree given the odds (1 in 3.9 million). However, NY Lottery should think of improving its overall odd, which is 1 in 29 now, by offering a break-even prize for matching 2 balls.

With the promo, you have to pick the right five numbers and the right store for the "three free" QP's, and to think I was going to give up my jaunts to the Bronx for SM tickets........

            Jacal,

            Wasamottayou?

Pickin' the right "five" numbers will only get you 500 bucks!! And ah-doan care what store in what borough you buy 'em in!!   You gotta pick SIX numbers to win that million bucks Jacal!

Now, you can buy five games with one playslip, and then you'll get 3-free QP's.  But all of them five games gonna have six numbers printed on each line. (And so will the 3 QP's.)  Then, if you have all six numbers, you gonna be rich!!  If you only got five numbers, then you say "better luck next time" cuz you ain gonna be rich just cuz you won 500 beans! No Nod

I tihink I wrote my last post too early in the morning and had brain freeze (lol), what really happened was I wrote that post before I checked my Powerball numbers this morning, so I had five numbers on my mind, because with the Power Play, I would win a million with five numbers, but not with  SM, like you so asutely pointed out GiveFive, thanks for keeping me honest (lol).  BTW, my PB ticket was a loser also.  I have been screaming all over my house this morning, "someone won SM with a QP ticket from the Bronx on Thursday, why wasn't it me????"  Well, I've got to run and start figuring out my SIX Sweet Million numbers for tomorrow and decide which BRONX store will give me the big winner on the "three free."

I hate to burst your bubble, but look closely at what I pasted below.  The winning SM ticket was sold in MANHATTAN, not Da Bronx!

I drove into Ft. Washington last month and all the other people in the car, including me, was calling it da Bronx, it's very close to da Bronx, but you are right, GiveFive, it's considered Manhattan, I'm close but wrong again, just like my SM tickets!  Well, not to worry, I'll be the next Bronx SM big winner!

Isnt 181st St in Washington Heights in Manattan?

A long long time ago I had a job near 185th and Amsterdam Ave.  That was considered Washington Heights, in manhattan, and was near the East River.  Across the bridge was da Bronx.  Or so I thought anyway.  Must have been, when I got off the bridge to get on The Deegan, I drove on Jerome Ave for a little bit.

And as far as winners from da Bronx goes, there aint any!!  Of course, there aint many SM winners from anywhere, if ya ask me!!!

I'm so excited!  I'm in the SM winner's totals today, TWICE, I picked four winning numbers on my own, 1-5-23-25, and I had another three winning numbers on my QP (purchased in da Bronx, lol), for a total of $43.00)!  I'm starting to get good at picking my own numbers now after spending several hours since the Feb. promo filtering the numbers through my own flawed and crazy system.  Maybe I should graduate to the predictions page (lol), I smelled that 1 and 5 coming out, 1 was overdue and 5 has been hot, coming out in a few recent past drawings!  My unlucky SM streak has finally ended as of yesterday's drawing, YES!!!!

When reading the posts regarding whether New York should have another 5 number lottery game, I was thinking that with Mega Millions and Power Ball offering a multiplier, a player can win 1 million on a 5 number game now, even though it costs two dollars.  In NY, every night except Sunday there is a chance to win a million, and with probably much better odds than the casino offers, and costing a player less money.  I don't remember seeing a slot machine with a million dollars or over jackpot in Atlantic City the last time I was there for only a one or two dollar bet, like MM and PB offers, and a two dollar bet on the same Sweet Million SIX numbers will get you 2 million (all the winnings mentioned are before taxes, of course)!

yes, the jackpot was won in washington heights. Also known as uptown manhattan.i have played lottery in some stores nearby.I     never played in that store because it is almost hidden. If you google map it, you will notice that it is located near the A-train entrance at 181 street. Maybe next month i will play the sweet million with my pool money or informal lottery sindicate as some call it.The best thing is that i'm the only member.I don't have to share with anybody if i win.
