Euro Millions launches new Tuesday draw with €100M jackpot

Euro Millions

Euro Millions, the multi-country lottery game played amongst European countries, is set to implement changes to the game and launch a new weekly lottery draw on Tuesdays — with a massive €100 million (US$143M) jackpot.

A sales frenzy is expected for the first draw as players have just four days to buy their tickets, which went on sale yesterday.

The special draw marks Euro Millions moving to twice a week, as well as other changes to the game which are designed to create bigger jackpots and more winners.

As well as the new Tuesday draw, a new prize tier will be introduced where players will win an estimated £2.70 for matching just two main numbers.

Players will now be able to choose from 11 Lucky Stars instead of nine.  In Britain's National Lottery, there will also be two guaranteed millionaires created by the Euro Millions Millionaire Raffle each week.

The overall odds of winning a prize on the game shorten from 1-in-24 to 1-in-13 — with the total number of prizes every week in Europe expected to more than double from 1.9 million a week to 4.6 million.

A Euro Millions spokesperson said: "You can now win a massive Euro Millions jackpot even earlier in the week with the fantastic Tuesday draw. By the weekend you could be propelled into the exclusive world of the jet set, and with €100 million up for grabs you could take your family and friends with you."

Lottery players worldwide can participate in the rare Euro Millions jackpot by playing online through Lottery Post's online lottery service partner

A single UK winner of €100 million (£85 million) would immediately rocket into second place on the National Lottery Rich List, behind the Euro Millions winners who banked £113 million last October.

It would also launch them overnight on to the Welsh Rich List headed by Cardiff-born Michael Moritz, the California-based private equity man who backed Google with a timely early investment. A single Welsh winner would top Caerleon Euro Millions winners Les Scadding and Samantha Peachy-Scadding, who won a £45 million jackpot in November 2009.

If no ticket matches all five main numbers and two Lucky Star numbers to win the jackpot in the first Tuesday Euro Millions draw, then it will roll to the Friday draw three days later.

I would love to see weekly raffles, with top dog prize of 1 million.

The best thing is the lottery is not taxed in Europe, so this would be equivalent to a $300 Million jackpot in the US. And you get an immediate lump sum payment.

i think is a great idea, they should had done that a long time ago, is excellent...will like to know how much the ticket costs....is it all of Europe participating in this or half of Europe, which one??? yeah i am glad Europe has it but will had like for this to happen a couple of places around the world first then in Europe...Europe is always taking the initiative...

Something Europe needs to do is create more Lottery retailers i think it has double the population of the USA with half the lotto retailers of the USA i think someone told me this on this site....

The greed of envy means that the Federal Government will keep taxing Lottery winnings in the USA !

Very true, while us Americans might be envying our European counterpants for paying no taxes for the lottery (actually, the taxes are removed before the advertised amount is displayed which makes it SORT of the same, still, does not look that way). You do realize that the standard of living cannot be compared per se, cost of living differs and how wealth is viewed differs from our own understanding. Needless to say, more money would be spent on their cost of living, income is not really manipulated for that much tax credit (please correct me anyone if I am wrong, which I am certain I am not). Alas, being a Capitalist nation as against a MIXED economy in Europe (trust me, it isn't socialism as we think), that money would be put to use, taxes here and there, high cost of fueling their vehicles, food is more expensive in stores, trust me, our British counterpants actually ENVY the low price us Americans pay at the pump, irony, isn't it? More or less, while it might seem that Euro millions is a lot more money, trust me, it would be spent rather well in the economy, so do not fret people, do not sigh with envy, you might be surprised.

I forgot to ask and make one obvious observation, standard of living side, the state of the economy and lack of productive workforce who are actually working for obvious reasons of high unemployment (what else could it be?) Might give a different view on this, am I right?

You are 100% correct Sandia, The cost of living is extremely expensive. People here should not be envious, try living there and you will definately say "God Bless America". it seem as if they have V.A.T (Value Added Tax) for everything including TV's they own. With that amount of money up for grabs I will work up some Power Numbers to give to my sister to play for herself.

This is a good thing...Congrats Euro Millions!

i looked up the odds on hteir  millionaire raffle draw. the one guranteed a winner ea game.

it says a 1 in 3 mill for tue draws and 1 in 9 mill for fridays.

if i was there i would def be playing the tuesday, even if just for the £2 min entry

These changes actually make the EuroMillions jackpot 50% harder to win! ("it's only 2 extra little balls, right...")

The stated reason is to create more rollovers. An extra draw a week makes them build up quicker, and making it harder to win makes them roll up bigger.

And big prizes sell more tickets.

But when you already got rollovers over 100 million - is this really such a good change..?

I'd be happier seeing more winners, not less!

Well, noticed that an American resident can purchase one of these tickets via LotteryPost.com's link.  I have a couple of questions therefore:

- How much is each ticket is U.S. dollars?

- Would I be required to split the jackpot of my sole winning ticket with the purchasing agent of my ticket who resides  in Europe?

- What percentage would I be required to pay to the European Country of which the proxy bought my ticket and also what percentage would I be required to pay to my America Country and State of Illinois of which I have been a years-long term resident in?  (the purchase website doesn't answer these obvious questions)

Probably the best way to get answers is to PM Todd.

As a US citizen, you are not immune to income taxes, just because the money is "earned" in a different country.  It's illegal to hide money offshore if you are benefiting from it in any way while living in the USA.

As for the other questions, I'd recommending using the contact link on their web site to ask those specific questions.  The one thing I can tell you is that I am confident that they are legitimately getting real lottery tickets, and I know for a fact that they recently had a $250,000 Mega Millions winner (in the past month).  The person got their ticket and their prize.

I don't think there is any law against buying a ticket for someone in exchange for a fee. If there was, I doubt it will hold up in court.

Oh ok, I thought that resume you posted was just practice at copying and pasting since it didn't have any context.

That's the only reason I asked.

You don't have to get angry about it.

Did you slip and fall in some goose poop today?

People with nice qualifications are right more often than people with no qualifications.

           Ode To A Whiner

His pool went dry and made him sad

Now he's just an angry lad

He walks in droppings from the gooses

He slips and slides and curses mooses

He whiles his time scooping poo

Left by Mr Caribou

The bears drops by to leave their scat

On his front door welcome mat

So he comes here to whine and cry

About his stupid pool gone dry

So let him whine and curse his luck

Cuz no one really gives a... darn.

"often," isn't always and if I had to list people with nice qualifications being wrong there wouldn't be enough room in this entire website but just as an example of someone with impressive qualifications being dead wrong, look at Bernie Madoff. What is a more impressive qualification than being the ex-chairman of NASDAQ? Nice qualifications and being right are not the same thing, not now and not ever.

Yeaaaaaaaa, I finally matched four numbers on super cash. wow after playing 40 lines every night, Its about time. Sometimes I only play 30 lines per night and play pic three and pic four also one line on badger. Never the less, It still amounts to  $22.00 dollars every night or more. So why am I so happy winning $30 bucks? I guess its the thrill of victory that I am after. The feeling of slipping into the winners circle if only for a moment or maybe Someone at the cashier counter handing me money for a change. Eating breakfast on won money Phsycologically lets our thinking process feel positive and  boost our confidense. Now wonder if I can do this two days in a row? of maybe more? Guess I'll put some gas in the fatboy and ride while I ponder my thoughts.
