North Carolina man wins $65,800 in Virginia Pick 4 drawing
Steven Granger is amassing a collection of those big ceremonial Virginia Lottery winners' checks. He received his latest addition when he claimed $65,800 in the Virginia Lottery's October 13 Pick 4 day drawing.
The Henderson, North Carolina, man did it by matching the winning number combination 5-1-1-7 on 15 tickets. He wagered "exact order" on 11 tickets and won $5,000 on each. He wagered "50/50" on four tickets, winning $2,700 on each.
Mr. Granger has had an amazing string of luck in Virginia Lottery games. This is the sixth time he's collected a major Virginia Lottery prize. Many of those wins have been with the number combination 5-1-1-7. He selected the numbers to win the same amount, $65,800, twice in 2010. In September 2009, he won $900,000 in Cash 5.
"I'm just lucky," he said as he claimed his most recent prize. "I've always been lucky. My wife claims it's because I married her."
Mr. Granger, who works in real estate, bought all of his winning tickets at his favorite store: Bracey Mini Mart, 3230 Highway 903 in Bracey, Virginia.
Pick 4 drawings are held daily at 1:59 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. The chances of matching all four numbers in exact order are 1 in 10,000.
Thanks to JordanT1021 for the tip.

Playing the same number worked for him. Looks like he plays the same amount on a regular basis.
Wow!! Congratulations to Mr. Granger - Pretty Amazing

Congrats!
Very Nice Congratz
Congratz!!! I would LOVE to know what a win like that is like.
I am gonna try that way one day!!!!!
That ol' boy got a horseshoe stuck somewhere.
Hope he keeps winnin' in Va.
Apparently he's got sense enough to stay out of TN.
Congrats to him. That's a sweet take.
But if he's playing that regularly... 15 tickets a drawing, two drawings a day... I'm no math wiz, but that's over 10,000 a year.
You have a deep love for TN. It has to be.
You don't even go after the libs anyore like you go after the TN lottery lol
They should contact you rdgnr to do some damage control because after reading what you have to say about TN lottery,
I dont think I'd ever try my luck there.
Anywho I have read about the VA guy before and God bless him to keep winning because the rest of us aint.
I'd say he's making a tidy profit then. (He won $65,800, and can write off the cost of the losing tickets against his winnings on his tax return.)
"Now that's the way I roll!!" (Gru, Despicable Me)
I love reading stories like this.
These stories continue to let me know that I can do it also. It's just a matter of time.
Congratulations to the winner.
Oh, make no mistake, I love Tennessee, this is God's Country.
I just don't care for the way our lottery officials run roughshod over the concerns of the players.
I'm not real crazy about our RINO governor either. He was in cahoots with Bloomberg's anti-gun movement till he ran for Gov and became pro-gun out of the blue.
I play 5 or 10 dollars straight occasionally on our Daily 4. It's a little expensive to play every day. With our Cash 5 the jackpot is only about 20k to 25k, with odds of 435,897 to 1. That sucks. For 5 bucks straight, you can win 25k, that's not parimutuel, and odds of 10,000 to 1.
Congrats to the winner!
That's awesome he did it again...would like to know how/and how much he consistently bets because thats a large gap of time in yellow to be spending 12 bucks each drawing day and not even catch a box....but then again being in real estate prior to the past 3 years was very profitable.Either way it's all gravy with the cash5 hit anyhow I suppose
This number HAS been coming up straight a lot recently.
Congrats on winning so much. Now if I could only win with powerball or mega millions I would be set for life.-weshar75
Go for it weshar.
Congratulations to him!! Yeah our cash 5 here is like $27,000 not worth it..
Hi
Is Mr Granger a member of lottery post? If so, what is his screen name?
Lottery winners don't have to be LP members to receive congratulations from LP members, they usually congratulate any winner who makes the news.
WTG Mr. Granger!! This is money one can really do something with! I was told by a storeowner whose wife and he play only one four digit number daily that you have to have faith in one number and stop playing more than one! He and his wife have hit several times and each time for $100,000 on their one number.
I have three four digit numbers that I play faithfully. I like triples in my four digits as even in the box for $.50, it's going to pay $600.00! That being said, it takes only $2.00 to play one of my four digits all the ways it can possibly fall daily. My problem is just keeping it at one number. I have hit all three of my numbers and I don't want to drop any!
Mr. Granger has a very good method here....WAITING on his number to fall and putting a lot of money on his one number instead of a notepad full of numbers LOL. Patience is the key....
the luck is strong with this one.
you got to play to win, and this guy sure makes that a reality.
It's been almost 3 years since I hit the pick-4 straight, but I still play multiple times; usually 3 straight and 3 box on a double. I don't play every day but if I did that's only about $2200 a year and not a bad bet since a box win pays $1200 and $16,200. I'd need to match at least 5 numbers to beat that return playing the big jackpot games when you compare that bet to playing both MM and PB four times a week at $10 a drawing. .
Good point, but with my luck, I'd go 7 years between wins. =P
CONGRAT'$$$$$$ 2U "Steven"
Psyko request UR permission 2 remote view UR 5 pick
system . Thanks 4 UR cooperation reguard'g D matter!
I thought everything was bigger in TX. That cash5 is puny!
WoW - That's impressive! Good 4 you!
More power to you Mr. Granger...
You can tell him about your business investment idea after I tell him about my Chicken Soup in a Sponge idea.
I know he'll go for it with my new ad promotion slogan:
"The Soup So Good, It'll Make Your Head Spin - Right The Hell Off!"
and WAITING is exactly what I would be doing if I tried this method. If a number normally turns up once a year, my luck it would take 4 years....or it would never fall as a straight number and I would only win a fraction of the true payout.
Just like the number 721 in Cash 3...it has typically fell every 3 months here in TN, but now suddenly it has been at least 6 months. Had I been playing it every night since I called it out about 2 months ago, I would be out a lot more dough.
For this reason I 'play' some cash 3 and 4 numbers...in my MIND! It's like winning without paying anything.
But good job to Mr. Granger, I am glad he hit again.
Also, does Virginia use Ball or Computerized drawings?
