There was no jackpot winner in the Wednesday night drawing of the multi-state Powerball lottery game, causing the grand prize to increase to an estimated $181 million for Saturday's drawing.
Wednesday was the 11th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner. The jackpot run started June 27 as a $40 million jackpot.
The estimated cash value for the new jackpot is $123 million. After-tax cash and annuity prize amounts are reported state-by-state on the Jackpot Analysis page at USA Mega, a web site devoted to the Powerball and Mega Millions multi-state lottery games.
Players should note that jackpot amounts are conservative estimates provided by the lotteries, and are often somewhat higher by the time the drawing occurs.
Although there were no jackpot winners Wednesday, 5 lucky players matched the first 5 numbers for a $1,000,000 prize: 1 from Colorado, 1 from Illinois, 1 from Louisiana, 1 from New York, and 1 from South Carolina. None of the second-prize winners purchased the Power Play option. If they had, their second-prize win would have automatically doubled to $2 million.
26 tickets matched four white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Of those tickets, 2 were purchased with the Power Play option, increasing the prize to $40,000.
The Powerball winning numbers for Wednesday, August 1, were 3, 16, 48, 56, and 58, with Powerball number 4.
When a Powerball ticket is purchased with the Power Play option for an extra $1 per ticket, any non-jackpot prize is increased according to a fixed prize schedule, which can be found on the Powerball Drawing Detail page at USA Mega, as well as on the Powerball Prize Payouts page at Lottery Post.
Powerball is now played in 42 states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Tickets cost $2 each.
The Powerball winning numbers are published at USA Mega (www.usamega.com) minutes after the drawing takes place.
$92,250,000 in the bank for the next winner from Pennsylvania !
Ka-ching $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I wish that the lottery choose one of my combinations as the winner to redistribute some taxes.
Lotteries represent redistribution of wealth at its finest.Lotteries know the geographical areas that will win the biggest prizes. That is the reason why quick picks win more jackpots than self picks.
The Connecticut asset managers combination was chosen as the winner in that geographical area. They won a $254M Powerball Jackpot with $1 Quick Pick Ticket.
Let it roll baby!!!
$181 million sounds good to me.......
I still say $200 million sounds a wee bit better
A bigger jackpot always sound better, no matter the size.
I really could care less about the magnitude of the jackpot. Wake me up when my ticket matches all 6 numbers drawn..then, and only then will I get even remotelyexcited.
I think it is time for mcminnville, oregon to have a winner from the circle k on third street please. Pretty please! I asked nicely!-weshar75
dpoly1,
Don't forget... you'll still owe another $12 million in federal income tax. So net is about $80 million... which is still very nice!!
I'll play my one line for Sat's drawing
The Powerball is stingy with their increments after the $100 Million Mark. Had this been Mega Millions it would have been well over $200 Million by now!
I hate this new Powerball game, but I'll play my $2.00 for the chance to win anyway..lol
No state taxes on lotto wins in PA looks like.
Seems like the big mega has killed the lotto hype. This would usually be big news but no one or the media is talking about it.
Haven't been here in a while. Good luck everyone.
I'm ready for $181 million ............:)
After having a $640M Mega Millions draw not too long ago it's hard to reach the level of excitement we had this year but "finally" we have some excitement!! I'm more than happy with this drawing.
Powerball: $181M!!
"Yeah that kind of rich!"
It has been awhile golfer! Willing to bet that cigar Jordan is puffing on, is worth more than most of us make in a week.
Reality doth intrude.
MEGA MILLIONS POWERBALL
And rates were better back then. Today, growth would be slower.
You better for the Next Bus!!
I have until the end of the year to mitigate the remaining 10% in Federal Taxes.
The $92,250,000 is the amount that a Pennsylvania resident would receive from the Pennsylvania Lottery in a wire transfer after winning.
I am more than aware of the current Federal 35% tax burden.
Charity will help mitigate this burden.
The MegaMillions started over at 12 million on Tuesday and only rolled over to 13 million for tonite. It usaully rolls from 12 to 15 million.
Exactly! A good tax attorney can help with that extra 10% problem.
Good luck everyone! I'm still working on getting my tickets for Saturday.
good luck to U too Ms Piaceri ..... already got my ticket
Hey mcginnin! Yes it's been a while. I hope all is well.
I've been reading all the articles and post but most of the articles made me nervous because they were all about lottery fraud or people making bad choices after winning huge amounts of money. It makes me think "be careful what you wish for".
But this jackpot has made me wash all my fears away again and now I'm excited!
I've enjoyed your post and photos too!
In the meantime: Come on Powerball!!!
Not buying a ticket for this Powerball drawing. Already bought my Hoosier Lotto tickets though. Hopefully I'll win $14,000,000.
you know somebody is probably going to play those numbers now lol. i like the first line because of the high numbers, different than all the other lines.
Wow, I never thought about that HiFi! That would be something if those numbers came out LOL! Those aren't my numbers but I'd be upset if they came out and I didn't play them.
Thanks for the nice feedback golfer! Lotto fever is finally returning once more, and I'm not calling my doctor over it.
Now show me the money please! Good luck on this one golfer!!!
I agree. I use to get excited, but not anymore. Now, when all those numbers match, then I will put on some music and dance my ass off. Until then, I'm cool.
Hellow to all, I am new to the lotterypost internet but not the lottery, I am looking for a system to help me with my numbers p3 and p4. I have been following you all on my phone but I am always one step behind. I need some advise....
There are plenty of pick3 and pick4 players here that are willing to share everything they know, just check out their forums.
Hope you had better luck than I do when I play the local Classic Lotto. The odds says it's easier to get a hit but in reality it seems harder to get a hit than when I'm playing PB and MM.
It's at $15,000,000 so maybe I'll give it a try Monday and if I don't win, I'll still have time to pick five lines for Wednesday's PB drawing.
Maybe it's the years and years of bull$hitting people by advertising annuity values, but you apparently don't recognize reality, even when it's biting you in the ass. The OP was referring to the increases after the advertised jackpot reaches $100 million, and it's extremely clear that MM blows PB out of the water.
Here's what those increases really look like:
MM @ $108 PB @ $110
+ $19 million + $17 million
+ $21 million + $17 million
+ $23 million + $15 million
+ $29 million + $21 million
+ $41 million + $31 million
MM took 5 rolls to go from $108 million to $241 million. 5 rolls took PB from $110 to $211 million. It took a 6th roll to match MM's $241 million advertised annuity jackpot.
Using the current ratio of cash to annuity, the actual cash (the only real yardstick) thos increases would take MM rom $82.8 million to $184.7 million. PB would go from $74 million to $142.2 million. After that 6th roll the PB winner still got fully $20 million less than the MM winner. As a bonus, MM did it while taking only half as much from players for each chance they were given.
OMG! No one hit PB and now the jackpot is $212M!!
I have an excited feeling in my loins!! "HEY IT MUST BE THE MONEY"!!
Dpoly1, what is the wire transfer amount on this jackpot in PA?
After Dpoly answers don't forget to deduct the 10.8 % to cover jersey state tax. (highest in the country)
a law that was passed in the middle of the night by our sneaky/greedy legislaters.
