I know that, but why have a 'Oh it's never going to be me' mentality?
Some other person playing the game won, with those same statistics. Likely always hearing 'Oh you're never going to win'.
Nothing wrong with having a little optimism.
I'm not trying to discourage you or anyone not to play. I'm optimistic most of the time, but reality is reality. People always say, well, someone wins most of the time. What they hardly ever consider is the hundreds of millions of tickets that lost in order for that one or two win ticket.
In a game of Lotto here in florida, the odds are about 23 million to 1. Take 23 quarters and throw them in the air. If they all land on one side, that's about the same as hitting the JP.

I didn't necessarily think you were trying to discourage. Just saying that yeah, it may have some unfavorable odds, but somebody will win and even if it's not you that won in a certain draw, they are playing with the same set of rules and odds as everyone else (I don't think $1 per draw makes much more of a differece than $5 or $10).

Below is a segment of your quote above.

Did you comprehend what I wrote?
Didn't I say that although one or two people, or more win, there are hundreds of millions of losing tickets in order for that one person, or others, to win?

So I was thinking, how annoyed would you be if you won the jackpot and went to an attorney to start creating a trust so you can stay anonymous, then so much time passed and the lottery released the video showing you buy your ticket?
It just seems like the ultimate bummer. I guess if you ever win, make it a point to contact the lottery shortly after winning and let them know you're making plans before you redeem the ticket?
How annoyed ??? hmmmmm, depends on the length of time prior to the video being released. Reasonableness to me would fall under "the last 90 days to collect" category. That still gives someone time to seek professional advice. 9 months and nobody makes the claim, might be a fair reason to share the video with the general public. If you bought an advance draw ticket in late October, won a big jackpot and wanted to suprise your significant other for Xmas ??? Then I don't believe you should have your (usually poor quality) video splashed on the TV 30 days later, have the suprise ruined. I want the option for my picture to be used, not someone elses choice for me.... .........Just my humble opinion...

So the odds are pretty bad.
Reality always wins.
...there are hundreds of millions of losing tickets in order for that one person...
I would highly question those numbers right there. If there were really hundreds of millions of losers in order to obtain a winner, those Powerball guys have a lot of explaining to do as to why they only increased their prize by $10 on 4(?) separate occasions in December. Same for MM, as they haven't had a jackpot of over $100 million since mid-September.
I understand the odds are something like 1 in 175 million. And that it almost always takes more than one draw to get a winner. That doesn't mean it takes that many losing tickets, though yes, obviously there are plenty of losing tickets. And yes, I also understand that sometimes it takes hundreds of millions of losing tickets to win, but that isn't always the case (as I pointed out in the part above this).
I also very clearly stated there are unfavorable odds, so not sure why you're questioning if I comprehended what you wrote. I very clearly did.
And I'll say this again, the people who win the jackpots are just like you and I. They play the game against the same terrible odds. Some have even spent less than $50 total to win a jackpot against those that have spent thousands (or even tens or hundreds of thousands). Someone is going to win a jackpot every now and then against the odds. Why aren't we able to imagine if that person is us one day? All I keep reading is that we can't think that because of the odds. I don't even know why someone would play if they don't think there's the chance they might win (though I say that, look how many winners have said they never thought they'd win).

Bottom line is that 99.9 % of the people who play for the JP will never win in their lifetime.
You can dream all you want, but what I wrote above is the reality. Many I've spoken to in person and in forums claim they will win one day for sure. They somehow think they're so special that they will fall into that 0.1% category.

I hope you win, good luck!
More like a miracle.
And nowhere have I said that isn't reality. I think almost everyone who plays thinks they will win some day, it's why they play. Otherwise why buy a ticket? Of course most everyone will not win a jackpot, but what's to say some, or even just one, won't?
I'll say this again, the same people who won fell into that .1% and they are just like you and I.
It's amazing how anti-lottery you are, seeing as how we're on a lottery site. All I've seen here is constant criticizing of people who think they could one day win a jackpot.
But go on, keep mentioning odds over and over and how nobody should ever give into the notion of winning a jackpot. I'm done with this.

Very true.

Don't get me wrong, a couple of times a month I'll buy one or two tickets for the Florida Fantasy Five in hopes of a miracle, but you'll never hear me say "I know I'm going to win someday". No one knows if they will win for sure.
Florida is the lightning capital of the world. The odds are about 3 to 7 million to 1 for me to get struck. The average would be about let's say 5 million.
Florida lottery is about 23 million to 1. So to win the JP would equal to me getting struck 5 times by 5 different bolts of lightning simultaneously.
To win the PB, 35 independant lighting strikes would have to strike me simultaneously.
Yeah, makes sense. I KNOW I'll get struck 35 times at once one day.
