This was in Dear Abby today- 2-13-2013:

Dear Abby: The other day at work, my girlfriend heard a group of people in the break room talking about what they'd do first if they won the lottery. Without exception, everyone in the room said the first thing they would do is get a divorce. My girlfriend was stunned.

Have you ever done an informal survey on this subject? I'm also curious if answers would differ along gender lines. Let me know what you think, and thanks.

Do you think those people realize it would probably mean giving up half the jackpot?

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

no. Believe it or not most people who play the lottery are casual players and are pretty much clueless about how the lottery works or what would happen if they actually won.

Yep, growing old together is a blessing, should not be viewed as a curse.

I think so many people feel if they are not married by a certain age, they panic and "settle." So they win a lottery and want to trade up for a better house, a better car and a "better" spouse. The "for richer" in richer or poorer does not apply.

Yes. As soon as you hit your 20's the pressure starts. Both from internal and external. Then you go for Bertha because you convince yourself that Tiffany is out of reach lmao
