A Glen Head, New York, convenience store clerk stole about $64,000 in scratch-off lottery tickets from the business over a three-month period, Nassau County police said Tuesday.

Donna King, 48, of 26 Clement St., Glen Cove, faces a charge of second-degree grand larceny and was arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead, where bail was set at $2,500 bond or $1,250 cash, records show. She's due back in court Thursday.

From February through May, King worked at the counter of the Super 7 Mini Mart at 242 Glen Cove Ave., police said. In that time, she took various types of New York Lottery scratch-off tickets without paying for them, police said.

After an investigation by Third Squad detectives, police arrested King at her home early Tuesday.

I wonder if any of the stolen tickets were  big winners?I'm sure there were numerous break even tickets, though. You know the ones I'm talking about, the lottery considers them winners but you actually just break even by getting your money back.

I think a big winner would cause panic and a run for hiding....... Crying

At least this thief was a clerk, and not a lotteryworker.

$$64,000 in three months????  She was on a real streak!!  She had the habit, ...she only needed a place to pay for it...wonder if they will send her to gambler's anonymous as part of her sentence.

With $10. and $20. tickets  (The kind MM does NOT offer) it probably wasn't too hard. Especially if the store doesn't do inventory for 3 months at a time. LOL

l humorously mentioned her being a Church Organ Player because in a way she reminded me of another guy no one suspected of being who he was..

All the story says is that she stole $64,000 in tickets. I think its safe to assume she had around $30,000 in winners, and I'm sure (to her) it seemed like a "big win"........ until she got caught..... Crying

True true it was a stretch- l was watching a show on him that I recorded for later viewing and it spoke of how unsuspecting he was of his deeds.
It was a poor comparison. I stand corrected.

No worry, I just hope LP member don't gang up and decide she needs to be beaten and tortured before being executed in a cruel and unusual way because she stole lottery tickets. Smash

I am searching for posts from people who would have commented if the last name of the thief was "Patel"...

All the Patel's I ever heard about don't steal lottery tickets from their employer, they steal them from unsuspecting customers when they are asked to check them to see if they are winners.I'm not saying that all Patels are theives, but enough of them are that I watch all of them very closely.

Right, lies and deception are a cultivated and practiced skill in some cultures.

Shame on her but the temptation had to be unreal though.

I watch ALL clerks.  They are NOT paid enough to not come under scrutiny.  Even if its a small hit, you are handing a clerk a $290 or $330 winner and they only make $100 a week... that is enough to tempt anyone.

She deserves to go to jail. She should have purchased her own tickets however she doesn't want to take the risk. She wanted to gain something from the lottery tickets that she stole.
