  I won $150 twice playing the old Mega Millions Matrix. First time I bought a $5 Mega Millions quick pick ticket. Second time I bought a $10 Mega Millions quick pick ticket. I guess buying more lottery tickets increases your chances of winning something, but you can also lose the most in the short run.

  The lottery people don't care how many people win a jackpot. They still pay out the same amount. If you want to have a good conspiracy theory, consider this: Jackpots are only won about 1 in 9 drawings on average. This financially benefits the lottery because the payout of a 9 rollover jackpot costs them less than if there had been winners in each of the 9 drawings.
