Baltimore truck driver wins lottery second time

Maryland Lottery

This guy should just quit his job and move to Vegas.

An unidentified 39-year-old truck driver won a large Maryland Lottery jackpot last week — for the second time.

The lucky Parkville, Maryland, resident came to Lottery headquarters Saturday to claim his $2.85 million Multi-Match prize and took the cash option, which totaled more than $2.2 million, the Lottery said in a release.

"I was here in 2005 when I won a $250,000 second-tier Mega Millions prize," he told Lottery officials. "It's great to be back."

The truck driver, who has regularly bought Multi-Match tickets at various stores along his route since the game began, didn't initially realize he had won the Christmas Day drawing. Then he heard the winning ticket had been sold at a Safeway in Waldorf, where he had purchased his ticket while buying gas last week.

"I still didn't think much of it until Saturday morning, when I saw that it was sold at the Safeway store," he said. "That's when I checked my numbers and realized that I was the winner."

He said he used his 2005 winnings to put a down payment on a house. With the new winnings, he said, he plans to pay off the house, take a vacation and save for his two sons, the Lottery said.

The Safeway, at 10 King St. in Waldorf, will receive a $2,850 bonus for selling the top-tier ticket. It was the ninth Multi-Match jackpot in 2014.

The jackpot had been rolling since an Annapolis winner won a $500,000 jackpot on July 31, the Lottery said. The largest Multi-Match jackpot win ever was $4.8 million in 2009.

I read on the Maryland Lottery's website, that winners can remain anonymous. All state lotteries should adopt the same policy.

Congratulations to the anonymous winner.  After reading the other story about the guy who went missing in Detroit, I am glad that he is getting to claim anonymously.

Now it is my turn to win . . . . . . Approve

I Agree!...l don't think people are  entitled to know exactly what the winner's name is. The following is perfectly alright with me.

Ohio housewife wins $80 mil. Washington mechanic wins the PB and so on & so forth.

Just yesterday l was looking at some recent winners on the CA lottery website and here was this guy holding up a cardboard check with the name " JACK" on it..no last name. What would have been smarter was him covering up his face, but then again, that's just me.

Very true BUT you know <snip> well that this clown played extra heavy

after his first win. I guarantee he was not a $5 per week player.

The two time winner, being a truck driver, might add some credence to the the saying ," it's location, location, location."

Last night's N.J. Cash 5 winning numbers of 8-10-19-24-30 seems to be a  dejavu  experience. Perhaps a premonition?

There were two winners and congrats to them but this string of numbers sounds so familiar, like it already came out before but don't see it as winning in  the recent Cash 5 numbers history before last night.

Too bad but failed to play this winning selection.
