LANSING, Mich. — It's not uncommon for players of the Daily 3 and Daily 4 midday and evening drawings to play some common patterns of numbers, like 1-2-3-4 or 0-0-0.

According the Michigan Lottery, one of those days was Tuesday, Jan. 6, when the Daily 4 evening drawing revealed the winning numbers as: 1-0-0-1.

That meant that winners cashed in on more than $7.4 million in prizes.

Players bought 8,050 tickets with the winning numbers. Those players won prizes ranging from $275 to $5,000, depending on wager type, according to a release.

The pay out and winners "dwarfed typical Daily 4 numbers," Lottery officials said.

Over the last 30 days, an average of 1,416 players won a prize each day in the midday and evening Daily 4 drawings each day. The total average prize payout for the Daily 4 game is about $690,000 per day.

There are five ways to play the Daily 4: Straight, Boxed, Two-way, Wheeled and 1-Off.

Prize amounts vary based on the way a number is played, and on the order in which the winning numbers are drawn. Players may select a four-digit number, or choose an easy pick ticket.

There are two Daily 4 and Daily 3 drawings a day, seven days a week, at 12:59 p.m. and 7:29 p.m. Each play is $1.

In 11/22/2009 a man by the name William Harvey played 2-9-1-2 straight, 700 times for the day drawing. He hit and won $3.5M from NY lottery. Now that's a heavy hit. Eek

not necessarily. he may just time and read the patterns and knew for 99% those numbers going to drop. No one plays $700 per draw every day.

He had a dream about his mother who I believe was already dead at the time. Her birthday was December 29. I'm surprised that LP didn't carry that story.

Finnally after 7 years 777 came out with only 318 winners. Such a low number of winners in a retirement state. Upon looking even further the amount of winners in the pick3 game has gone down even some drawings having 0 winners.

I Agree!, maringoman, this is a great story.  He set the numbers in an numerical international-date type of style.

I'm surprised they make money on this game. NY Lotto just paid out 3 and 5mill within a few days.
