Hello everyone,
I have been a long time reader of Lottery Post but decided to register and post something that happened to me today while buying my lottery tickets. This morning I asked the clerk for some cash 4 tickets along with a Mega Million for tonight and a Powerball for tomorrow. After giving me the cash 4 tickets, he went back to the lottery machine and printed me my Mega Million and Powerball tickets. I heard the machine make the sound as if it had printed off 3 tickets instead of just the 2, knowing sometimes that the clerks can hit the wrong button and another ticket can be printed by mistake, I told him that if a third ticket had been printed that I would buy it regardless of what it was. He than informed me that there was no other ticket and just handed me the 1 Mega Million and 1 Powerball ticket. I paid him and was going to leave but something just didn't feel quite right. There was a clear glass case where they kept the scratch off tickets in front of the lottery ticket machine so I could see the lottery ticket machine through the glass case and I noticed that a Powerball ticket was laying next to the machine on a stack of those BOGO - buy one get one free coupons that the lottery give to stores so that they can pass along to the customers. I than asked the clerk to show me that ticket that was laying to the side and he did. Guess what? It was the Free ticket that was printed out when I had bought my Powerball ticket. It clearly had been printed out with the ticket I had just bought because it said free and the timestamp was a second after the one that I had just bought. I told him that belongs to me since I had paid my $2.00, he reluctantly gave it to me and I left. He most definitely was going to keep my free ticket. I wonder how many times that has happened before where customers are paying for the tickets and these store clerks are using the bogo's without them knowing and keeping the free ticket that should rightly go to the customer.
