  What are the odds of correctly selecting 1 number and having it be among the 5 drawn? How about for two and three? Because you only get 1 shot at correctly guessing 1 of 5, 2 of 5 or 3 of 5 these odds are not the same as those on the website, that's different.

   

  reason being because in my state pa the terminal Allows you to select 1-4 numbers yourself  and then choose quick pick having the computer randomely generate the rest. So if I selected 1 and 69 then quick pick the ticket would appear as 1-x-x-x-69 so what are my odds for correctly guessing 1 and 69 and for just 1 ball and 3

  Hi Cj. In terms of individual numbers as you've described with (1) and (69), they have just as much of a chance as any of the remaining individual numbers of being drawn. If I were you, here's how I'd look at it. The matrix is 1-69 which boils down to (7) blocks of progressively ascending ranges, okay. 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, so forth and so on. What this now really means is that you're attempting to select a (5) number combination, sans the Powerball, from those (7) blocks...which is actually not even one number from each block. Still with me? Somehow, it seems to me that by choosing (5) numbers from a single 'block' and then adding a PB number, the player could possibly come out better...over time. Let's say you chose 11,12,13,14,15, and a PB number. This leaves 16-19 but, you still have a decent chance of matching something if it begins with a '1' which is the whole idea. These ginormous games require a pretty decent approach, serious patience, and the funds for longevity in order to realize any type of small financial recovery in a decent amount of time.
