I've never been big on sharing what people call a "lotto fantasy". That's for a couple of reasons. First, some of the things I'd do with the money are personal. Others aren't so personal. Aint too many people reading this thread anyway, so I'll open up and share my lotto fantasy, but only just a little bit
I should start out by saying that I have what I think is a good middle class quality of life. That said, I'd like a little more than I already have. I don't play big jackpot games (or even Florida Lotto) because I don't care about being a multimillionaire. About the only reason I can think of why I would want to be one is I'd know my three grown kids would be set for life. At least I hope they'd be set for life, but statistics do show that more often than not, Grandpa's money doesn't make it to his grandchildren. As has been said thousands of times before in posts here at The Lottery Post, mismanaging big money is all too easy to do, while managing it properly to preserve it for future generations isn't easy for any layman to do. It takes a team of financial professionals to do that. Some people who have never had great wealth, and come into a fortune fool themselves into thinking they can pull it off, but most of them die broke. Wealthy people know full well that if they want their millions to be passed on to future generations that they must hire a personal wealth manager. Just because you have a lot of money does not mean that you possess the knowledge and skills to manage it properly.
Getting back to my lotto dream.... I'd buy a run down cabin on a lake in the wooded mountains of New England or The Carolina's. I'd have it renovated and it would be my summer home for four or five months. It would have to have a view of the lake. Another must have is a big screened in porch/deck across the front of the cabin with rocking chairs and loungers, and a table and chairs to sit at so I could drink coffee at sunrise. Maybe some stairs down to a boat dock on the lake. As for a boat, maybe a small rowboat to go out on the lake and fish the afternoons away, but I'd be happy sitting in a chair fishing off the the dock.
Inside the cabin the decor would have to be rustic. Lots of old reclaimed barnwood on the walls, and exposed 6 by 6 inch reclaimed exposed oak/maple beams from an old barn or house supporting the ceiling. Gotta have axe marks in those old beams too. Some farmer from back in the 1700's who made those beams by hand for his cabin or barn would be smilin' down me from heaven. Gotta have lots of stonewalls on the property too. And from the stonewalls on the property, I'd have a floor to ceiling raised hearth fireplace built inside the cabin. As for bedrooms, because the cabin is probably only about 1,000 square feet, I'd have one bedroom on the first floor and the second floor would be a loft that had a window so you can look out and see the lake. Just one bathroom, and a kitchen big enough to handle a round wooden table with four wooden chairs.
You'll probably think I'm crazy, but a budget of $100,000 can probably make my fantasy a reality. Maybe it'd take up to $125,000 depending upon how much I could acquire the property for. Lakefront property in New England can get very pricey real fast. If the property alone was 100K, then it'd probably take $50 to $75,000 to renovate it depending upon how run down it is. I'll keep dreamin'! It's worth it.
