Hi Mr/Ms Sowinski! Thanks very much for your very kind compliments.
Yup, it's true. You'll not only see very similar characteristics in T5 that also appear in FF5, but you'll also see those very same similar game characteristics in every PICK5 game in all other states Pick5 games. For instance, Tique54 posts in the T5 thread about the 99 duplicate sets of five numbers that have been drawn twice since 1991 when T5 began. Same thing has happened in FF5, but not as many times. Right now it's happened in FF5 83 times since July of 2001 when FF5 began. As you can see, the reason T5 has 99 sets of dupes vs. FF5's 83, is T5 began in 1991, ten years prior to FF5. Also T5 actually has one set of five numbers that was drawn THREE times whereas FF5 doesn't have any of those. (Not yet anyway) Mass Cash (Massachusetts's Pick5 game) has 77 sets of five that were drawn twice. (And Just like T5, one set was drawn three times in Mass Cash) The only reason Mass Cash doesn't have as many sets of dupes as T5 or FF5 is because although Mass Cash began on 3/28/1991, for a while Mass Cash drawings were held weekly, but eventually Mass Cash went to daily drawings. (Mass Cash has held 6,962 drawings whereas T5 has held approximately 9,000 draws. FF5 has held over 8,000 drawings)
I told Roy Siano (Lotto News/Stats publisher and editor) about all the sets of dupes appearing in Pick5 games all across America and he went crazy! He said "That should not happen!!" I said, "I agree Roy, but it DOES happen, and it happens in Pick5 games all over The USA". He asked me to write a few columns about it that appeared in Lotto News. The only thing I can think of regarding the many sets of dupes is maybe the lottery isn't as random as the math purists say it is.... Who Knows! I don't know why it happens, and I couldn't care less as to why it happens. I just know that it happens.
FF5 has a 5/36 matrix (players have to pick 5 out of a pool of 36 numbers) which yields odds of 376,992 to 1 to win a jackpot. While that's significantly better odds than T5's 575,757 to 1 odds, it's still very hard to win a FF5 jackpot. FF5 has a 50/50 mix between player picked jackpot winners and QP's where as T5's used to be 75% QP's and 25% player picks. (Maybe the mix has changed since I moved to Florida in November of 2020... not sure about that.)
The odds difference is the big thing when it comes to game characteristics between FF5 and T5. Other than that, everything I posted recently in the T5 thread about T5 will be seen in FF5 too. (not to mention all other Pick5 games in The USA.)
just like The NY State Lottery, The Florida lottery went to two FF5 drawings per day during March of last year. To my way of thinking,The Florida Lottery absolutely ruined the game because jackpot amounts were cut in half. Used to be one draw per day could yield a jackpot of $235,000, especially when The Snowbirds show up in Florida every January. Not anymore. Midday drawing jackpots are about $60,000 and Evening drawings are about $135,000 to $140,000 depending upon the day of the week. (Fridays in New York and Florida are the big jackpot days while Sundays are always lowest amounts, and that's IF there is a jackpot winner. If not, then The Florida lottery does a "rolldown" to the benefit of second and third place prize winners.)
So there you have it.... keep your eye peeled here... you might pick up a tidbit or two that you can easily carry over to T5. Great hearing from you! G5
