Second daily drawing to begin next week

By Kate Northrop

The New York Lottery added a second daily drawing to its popular Take 5 draw game, with the change effective starting next week.

Beginning this Monday, July 26, the Lottery will offer New York players another daily drawing for the Take 5 game, with one drawing to take place in the afternoon and the other in the evening.

"Take 5 created more than 2.5 million cash prize winners last fiscal year," New York Lottery Executive Director Gweneth Dean said. "The added drawing for this game will give New York players more chances to win."

Currently, Take 5 drawings take place daily at 10:30 pm EST and are broadcast live on select television stations. Starting July 26, players can begin purchasing tickets for the first afternoon drawing at 2:30 pm EST.

Take 5 is played by choosing five numbers from 1 to 39. The odds of hitting the jackpot by matching all five numbers drawn is 1 in 575,757, and the estimated jackpot for a winning ticket is $57,575 but may change depending on ticket sales.

The odds of winning any prize in Take 5 are 1 in 9.62. The lowest tier prize the game offers is a free play if two of the player's numbers are drawn.

Odds for winning a smaller prize... 1in 9. Odds for winning the jackpot....1 in 575,757. If you buy 10 tickets your odds for winning a smaller prize is fantastic.....lol.

It seems like all of the games are going to twice daily or three or more times a week.

They say it's so the players have more chances to win, but really, it's so they have more money to make.

Even Power Ball is going to be going to three draws per week starting in August.

It will be Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

Your chance to get 2 / 5 in one game is 1 IN 23.

It takes 23 combinations to get at least 2 / 5 one time at least.

You play for $23 and can win a dollar. Your  guaranteed  payback is 1/23.

You are quite correct. I love playing the various lottery games. But I'm not naive to really think the lotteries have our best interests in mind by increasing the number of draws. It is rather offensive to imply that they are giving us more chances to win (which may be somewhat true), but it really is designed to make more money. Of course, they are in business to make money, and I don't begrudge them that. But I am offended when they blow smoke up people's tushes by pretending they are giving more chances to win when the reality is people will lose more and state lotteries know it.

I always heard it was 1 in 9. There is no dollar prize in take5. Just a free play. Which is either thrown away or lost the next night. 3 out of 5 gets you money back. Like 16 to 25 bucks typically. So in the end like rcbuckeye was saying, it's a mental trick to get you to keep playing. But if you want to play and want to dream I hope you do win. But odds of a jackpot are 1 in 575,000 or so, so you'd have to be that 1 person out of over half a million other people that don't win. Hence the term good luck. I guess it would be safe to assume that two separate total jackpots would be paid. Not splitting the original jackpot. I don't know. All that matters is if you win. The rest is just talk.

jackpotismine's avatarjackpotismine

I remember way back when it was a nice jackpot . As the years went by the jackpot got less and less. Less people starting to play. You're better off playing pick 3 or pick 4 with better odds.

Let's take the fulllotto. All numbers are used once at least. Guarantee is 1 if 1 and 1 if 5, but details show more:

You roughly have a 3/4 chance to win any prizes. Math for coverage calculation. The highest match is counted.

So, if I reduce a set with 2/5 or less, and the filter conditions were correct, the chances for higher payouts raise proportionally.
If I used 2/5, I can often  get a 3/5 and that isn't true with a standard wheel.

Further totals for all combinations are:

Oh, if you like to play and count cards there is a nice shufflemachine at blackJack, six decks, continuous shuffling when discarded cards are reentered, they are put anywhere in that card wheel, and when you get the cards to deal you get any cards ...

Have you seen that muck?

Maybe they go all in.

There specialists will disagree. And I also say that there is this no favourite case. - You're like the guy that says that there always are 2 or 3 even numbers drawn at pick 5. We all say no! Then people like you come and say that GH has said it. ...

Same discussion over "hot" numbers. Nobody every explained hot before saying these are the hot numbers. Then they turn it around and ask you what hot means, what hot numbers are. ...

I'm so glad that you mentioned Belgium in your post!  That's because I've been struggling with why someone that lives in Europe has so many comments regarding a game that they probably have never played, and have absolutely no hope of ever playing as long as they remain in Europe.  Is there a shortage of European lottery games to comment on?  G5

Who's they?

Lotterypost now has 4 european countries' lottery results. Italy was added. I'm in none of those countries.

If you want to know the differences then you must look up the games and the payouts on Internet. There is not only the USA, you can play in Japan for example, or Australia. Maybe you prefer to play in Africa?

"But not talk, there always is a sure bet in sports at least once a year. No matter what."

Then they turn it around and ask you what hot means, what hot numbers are. ...

Not if you know the right people to follow. UFC 259 Askar Askarov March 6th. It was locked. Everybody I know won thousands including me. And correction all I said was one. I have no rules that I follow. Except maybe just do it. No disrespect. But talk is just talk. Nice talking to you but I talk real.

I don't bet on sports or races. They said that there is nice money. I looked at the played soccer-bets and the payouts were awful. Nobody won on it, it mostly was betting for a certain team with a certain score again and again. You could also bet on who is the next president of the USA. I bet Trump, won a bit, just played little money for the fun of it. There were not many different bets available. For the USA I heard of that remote viewing team winning big money on the superball(?). Here many professional soccer players also were gambling on results of soccer matches. I don't follow that scene as it is not even purely european anymore but rather and african b**l. The press jumped on it, and that afro-propaganda goes on. They shuffle them under our seats.
The biggest here closer to what would be USA champoinship would be a european championship. A few years ago GB came over with their betting offices. At some point I saw it always occupied with afro-asian immigrants, legal or not. I saw two offices close. (...) Now there are three computers in a newspapershop and I often see black to yellow at the machines, but not always playing. We are back to that propaganda again. If one of those stands there, doesn't play, then it is not a player! We're not stupid! Cops cannot change that. No reason to do anything, but those could be shut out, house-rules. You'd say that this doesn't matter to you, but you have to pass those with your winning lotto-tickets. There it matters. Are you going in or not? Is there a cam? Cam doesn't help, only records. (...)
I stuck to lotterygames, keno or lotto. I don't play Euromillions, that game is for sick rich people who can waste their money. We don't have a 5/39 or 5/32. Our games are soured by odds and payouts.
I won many years ago a 5/6 with 6+/42. I had >1660 EUR playing 50 cents lines.. Yesterday the 5/6 with 6+/45 with 1.25 EUR lines  paid 514 EUR and mathematically compared to the 1660 won this would have been the equivalent of 143.45 EUR, less than a tenth, or the other way, yesterday it could have paid >7500 EUR. That is real, not talk, just odds*payouts. I could do the calculation with bets and the inflation over the years. I leave that out.
When you must play many combinations, the games with high line prize are the worst. Unless that you're good and you sit on a pile of money.
Purely lotto, what are the factors? Costs, payouts, inflation, your ability to guess correctly ... ? The first price mostly pays best and is likely not to be won. Handicaps are taxes and fees or commissions to play somewhere. All the unwanted costs and added games or other trouble. They sell keno by two lines, for example. They sell lotto with a raffle-code combined, that is what you don't want. You don't want to play by 2 lines, you don't want to get a scratchcard with each combination, you don't want a high cost by line ...

No... plus back then when the prizes were bigger my mother got five numbers and 10 other people split it with her so they was letting more people win the top prize back then also...

So they did split the original jackpot amount. And it appears a lot less. So either less people are actually playing, or they just slushing it, lol. Each jackpot is now around 20 grand, if barely. Used to be the whole jackpot was around 60 grand usually. What a freaking joke. I mean if you don't see win 4 with odds of 1 in 10,000 as the only option to play then you need some glasses. What a freaking joke, 1 in 575,000 for 20 grand? Gtfoh. Take 5. Take it all or take a break why don't you. F it.

keeponscratchin

How this state does not have a roll over jackpot is crazy. I was just there and they really offer some of the worst games out there.  So much money left on the table.

I noticed that too! (used to play this game when I travel to NY).  I think that will be the demise of this game. Some players will see that and stop playing, maybe enough for them to end the game.

Thats true, I feel like it has to be a mixture of quickpicks, buying from multiple retailers, and your own selection of numbers you choose your entire life before you could win jackpot. Or right place right time may never know
