The Lotto Texas jackpot keeps rolling making it an even better opportunity for a lottery club.

Lottery clubs may not be popular because many members on this site do not believe the odds of winning the jackpot increase when many tickets are bought.

That is too bad, so sad.

I belong to a lottery club.

It has one member....me.

Actually, I ran a pool at work that had 8-10 people for several years, but never won any significant money.

Nonsense. People have reasons for avoiding lottery pools that have nothing to do with their mathematical reasoning ability, and everything to do with not wanting to deal with other people.

I disagree. Everyone who buys a ticket wants to win. Some people spend hundreds of hours working out various strategies in the hope their odds of winning may improve. If they had any idea how much their odds improve buy joining a group, they would clearly join a group.

There are two kinds of lottery players.

1. Those that do not understand probabilities and therefore do not join a group.

2. Those that understand probabilities and join a group.

Those are 2 of the Groups alright.

But Joe is correct. I am in the group that he described.

I agree. Too much litigation involved with lottery pools and few pools establish sufficient rules.

And I do not like qp tickets.

Do not raise your daughter to look for a knight. Raise her to use the sword herself.

The Texas jackpot rolled again making the game and even better candidate for a lottery club.

Interesting that fashohits started this thread looking for interest in starting a lottery club and has never posted again.

I was in a 30 person Ohio Super Lotto pool and each player paid $5 a drawing. The pool was set up so the money was split between a pool where each player picked 6 numbers and the first player or players to match their numbers won that pool and the second pool was buying QPs. When the jackpot reached a certain high, 75% went into the jackpot pool and the rest into the player pick pool. The 4 out of 6 matches wins went back into the QP pool, but we were very disappointed when we finally won $1500 hitting 5 out of 6 and each player only got 50 bucks.

Not knocking pool play but the more players in a pool mean less jackpot winning potential. And then the person running the pool better distribute to everyone in the pool a list of participants and a copy of the tickets. IMO the "for one drawing only" pools when jackpots approach $1 billion are probably a better choice.

The Texas Lotto jackpot is now $59 million for the March 29 draw. It is the third largest jackpot in the world behind Mega Millions and Powerball.
