Obama to Nominate Sharia Supporter, Illegal Immigrant Advocate as Labor Secretary - Conflict of interest!

] Date: Thursday, 14-Mar-2013 14:26:09

President Obama reportedly intends to nominate in-your-face radical leftist lawyer Thomas Perez as his next Secretary of Labor.

Now an assistant attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice, Perez is a former top aide to the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) and possibly a perjurer.

Perez led the Obama administration's assault on voter ID laws last year. As John Fund and Hans von Spakovsky report in Who's Counting, as a member of the Montgomery County, Md., Council in 2003 he also tried to force governments to accept fraud-prone matricula consular ID cards issued by Mexican consular offices. He was a board member of Casa de Maryland, an advocacy group for illegal aliens funded by George Soros and the recently deceased Hugo Chavez.

Perez is apparently in favor of Saudi-style anti-blasphemy laws. In Saudi Arabia and other Islamic countries offenders can be condemned to death merely for insulting Islam.

Amazingly, at a congressional hearing last year, Perez pointedly declined to rule out bringing such laws to the United States. At the July 27, 2012, meeting of the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee on the Constitution, Perez refused to say whether he would uphold the religious speech protections in the First Amendment in the future.

"Will you tell us ... that this administration's Department of Justice will never entertain or advance a proposal that criminalizes speech against any religion?" Congressman Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) asked four times to no avail.

Perez, like so many Obama administration officials, believes that America is a seething hotbed of "Islamophobia," filled with ignorant racist rubes who irrationally fear the Muslim religion. He has worked with hardcore Islamist groups such as the terrorist-linked Islamic Society of North America and applauded Islamists for lobbying against airline security measures.

He played a major role in enacting the Church Arson Prevention Act, legislation based on the false premise that black churches were being targeted with disproportionate frequency by arsonists.

Perez, now nominally the nation's top civil rights enforcer at the Department of Justice, has an appalling track record at the DOJ and myriad unsavory associations.

He has targeted Maricopa County, Ariz. Sheriff Joe Arpaio, for legal harassment because he doesn't like Arpaio's tough-on-crime approach, especially with respect to illegal aliens.

Under Perez, the DOJ has refused to prosecute hate crimes committed against white Americans. He was reportedly instrumental in the Justice Department's dismissal of a case involving two Philadelphia-based members of the New Black Panther Party who intimidated white voters on Election Day 2008.

Perez graduated from Harvard Law School, long a hotbed of radical leftist activity. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) recently irritated left-wingers when an old speech of his surfaced in which he pointed out that Harvard Law is filled with what he called "communists."

Cruz, of course, was correct. Harvard Law is bursting with adherents of "Critical Legal Studies" which is a crude legal theory derived from Marxism.

Financial Doom? InTrade Shuts Down Suddenly Do To 'Circumstances Recently Discovered'

Financial Doom? InTrade Shuts Down Suddenly Do To ‘Circumstances Recently Discovered’

Tuesday, March 12,

Intrade, the worlds largest prediction market, has shut down suddenly, leaving customers with a worrisome and cryptic message upon their website. What 'circumstances' has Intrade recently discovered that has IMMEDIATELY caused them to cease all trading activity? They've announced that they have 'closed and settled all open contracts at fair market value as of March 10th, 2013' to 'mitigate any further risks to members accounts'. What in the world does the Board of Directors of InTrade know that you and I don't? Did they have inside info on the next pope? Were mass bets placed on a date for WW3 kick-off or an attack by North Korea? First from NPR and then from the Intrade website with a video discussion from Bloomberg below.

The online betting market Intrade has shut down. Intrade allowed customers to wager on the outcome of events such as presidential elections. The company says all betting is on hold until it can investigate possible financial irregularities.

The selection of the next pope had been a hot topic on the site Intrade. That's where anyone can place real money bets on future events like the outcome of a presidential race or who will win an Oscar. But that all changed yesterday when Intrade abruptly halted trading, pending an unspecified investigation. NPR's Dan Bobkoff has that story.

The message below can now be found upon the InTrade website.

To Our Customers:

With sincere regret we must inform you that due to circumstances recently discovered we must immediately cease trading activity on www.intrade.com.

These circumstances require immediate further investigation, and may include financial irregularities which in accordance with Irish law oblige the directors to take the following actions:

  • Cease exchange trading on the website immediately.

  • Settle all open positions and calculate the settled account value of all Member accounts immediately.

  • Cease all banking transactions for all existing Company accounts immediately.

During the upcoming weeks, we will investigate these circumstances further and determine the necessary course of action.

To mitigate any further risk to members’ accounts, we have closed and settled all open contracts at fair market value as of the close of business on March 10, 2013, in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of our customers’ use of the website. You may view your account details and settled account balances by logging into the website.

At this time and until further notice, it is not possible to make any payments to members in accordance with their settled account balance until the investigations have concluded.

The Company will continue the maintenance and technology operations of the exchange system so that all information is preserved properly.

We are not able to provide telephone support or live help services at this time, please contact the company by email at: accountservices@intrade.com

We appreciate your custom and support over the years. We are committed to reporting faithfully the status of things as they are clarified and hope you will bear with us as we do all we can to resume operations as promptly as possible.

Sincerely,

The Board of Directors of Intrade the Prediction Market Limited

This Will Blow Your Mind! Think All Is Well With The US Economy?

This Will Blow Your Mind! Think All Is Well With The US Economy?

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

This entry records a country's net trade in goods and services, plus net earnings from rents, interest, profits, and dividends, and net transfer payments (such as pension funds and worker remittances) to and from the rest of the world during the period specified. These figures are calculated on an exchange rate basis, i.e., not in purchasing power parity (PPP) terms.

Definition: The current account balance is the difference between a country's savings and its investment. "[If the current account balance is] positive, it measures the portion of a country's saving invested abroad; if negative, the portion of domestic investment financed by foreigners' savings."

The current account balance is defined by the sum of the value of imports of goods and services plus net returns on investments abroad, minus the value of exports of goods and services, where all these elements are measured in the domestic currency.

Socialism — The Ultimate Parasite

Socialism — The Ultimate Parasite

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

Monty Pelerin / EconomicNoise.com

Socialism is here — temporarily. It has pretty much taken over the developed western world. Europe has been suffering from its consequences at least since World War II. The US is now feeling the pain of this destructive system.

The Nature of Socialism

Socialism’s siren song is sung by those desiring personal power. It captures the weak-minded rather easily.

Political success is always temporary, because Socialism is a pernicious, destructive force. It is neither an economic nor a social system. It is a political scheme that contains within itself the seeds of its own destruction. Unfortunately its demise is slow, diminishing and impoverishing the lives of those generations upon which it is imposed.

Socialism builds nothing. It only destroys. It destroys pride, motivation and drive for achievement. It destroys capital and savings and reduces the standard of living. It rewards mediocrity. People are not raised up but beaten down.

obamaBarry Detective

Socialism is parasitic. It needs a capitalist host in order to appear to work. Previous wealth accumulation is Socialism’s food supply. Poor societies where Socialism takes hold become poorer. Rich societies appear to succeed for a while because prior wealth is consumed to support the scheme. Ultimately, all societies become poorer as a result.

Socialism, once established, appears immune to political rollback. Its dependents live in the moment and seem incapable of understanding what will happen if the scheme continues. Hence, they refuse to vote against their class, interests or benefits in spite of assured greater future suffering. There is no known cure for this disease. History has never seen it reversed via the political process.

Socialism progresses until the food supply runs out. That is, until whatever remains of a functional economy (and perhaps society) collapses from its depredations.

Cracks Are Appearing

Ultimately Socialism collapses as a result of its own failures. It results in death for the economy that adopted it. It can result in the fall of governments and societies. All of this occurs slowly, almost imperceptibly. Little of what occurs is related back to the unworkability of the system itself. Instead, changes are viewed in the moment, as if they are current political issues rather than inevitable outcomes.

The recent rhythm of French politics provides just such an example. French President Hollande is reported to be the least popular French leader in 32 years. According to Zerohedge:

While the people of France voted for a wealth distributing tax-the-rich Socialist President, it appears Francois Hollande is not living up to his electorate’s hope for change as his policies are increasingly seen as simply more of the same as Sarkozy – “often the line is very fine between the two but Hollande must maintain the idea that he is more left wing.” Hollande’s popularity fell in February, leaving him the most unpopular French leader since 1981, a TNS-Sofres poll showed. More than two-thirds of the French and 44% of those who voted for him say they’re disappointed with him. It seems Socialism is not all it’s cracked up to be as “the [European] obligation to cut deficits and spending and make reforms… exactly what Sarkozy had to deal with… annuls all measures Hollande wants to impose to boost jobs and growth.” Hollande has restated his promise to reverse the unemployment trend and chanted his three mantras “constancy, endurance and hope,” but, as Bloomberg notes, the last five opinion surveys have been disastrous for the self-proclaimed ‘normal’ president but have no fear as the ‘old fuddy-duddy’ is going back to the people in a charm offensive.

Zerohedge covers the disappointment of the electorate in Hollande’s performance. Like most electorates, they don’t realize that there is little Hollande or anyone else can do to prevent the failures inherent in a flawed system. Zerohedge says as much with “It seems Socialism is not all it’s cracked up to be …”

Are Americans Practicing Communism?

Are Americans Practicing Communism?

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

ARE Americans practicing Communism? This has ALWAYS been their Plan.
Read the 10 Planks of The Communist Manifesto to discover the truth and learn how to know your enemy...
Karl Marx describes in his communist manifesto, the ten steps necessary to destroy a free enterprise system and replace it with a system of omnipotent government power, so as to effect a communist socialist state. Those ten steps are known as the Ten Planks of The Communist Manifesto… The following brief presents the original ten planks within the Communist Manifesto written by Karl Marx in 1848, along with the American adopted counterpart for each of the planks. From comparison it's clear MOST Americans have by myths, fraud and deception under the color of law by their own politicians in both the Republican and Democratic and parties, been transformed into Communists.
Another thing to remember, Karl Marx in creating the Communist Manifesto designed these planks AS A TEST to determine whether a society has become communist or not. If they are all in effect and in force, then the people ARE practicing communists.
Communism, by any other name is still communism, and is VERY VERY destructive to the individual and to the society!!
The 10 PLANKS stated in the Communist Manifesto and some of their American counterparts are...
1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rents of land to public purposes. Americans do these with actions such as the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (1868), and various zoning, school & property taxes. Also the Bureau of Land Management (Zoning laws are the first step to government property ownership)
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax. Americans know this as misapplication of the 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, 1913, The Social Security Act of 1936.; Joint House Resolution 192 of 1933; and various State "income" taxes. We call it "paying your fair share".
3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance. Americans call it Federal & State estate Tax (1916); or reformed Probate Laws, and limited inheritance via arbitrary inheritance tax statutes.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels. Americans call it government seizures, tax liens, Public "law" 99-570 (1986); Executive order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land to the Department of Urban Development; the imprisonment of "terrorists" and those who speak out or write against the "government" (1997 Crime/Terrorist Bill); or the IRS confiscation of property without due process. Asset forfeiture laws are used by DEA, IRS, ATF etc...).
5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly. Americans call it the Federal Reserve which is a privately-owned credit/debt system allowed by the Federal Reserve act of 1913. All local banks are members of the Fed system, and are regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) another privately-owned corporation. The Federal Reserve Banks issue Fiat Paper Money and practice economically destructive fractional reserve banking.
6. Centralization of the means of communications and transportation in the hands of the State. Americans call it the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated through the ICC act of 1887, the Commissions Act of 1934, The Interstate Commerce Commission established in 1938, The Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Communications Commission, and Executive orders 11490, 10999, as well as State mandated driver's licenses and Department of Transportation regulations.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan. Americans call it corporate capacity, The Desert Entry Act and The Department of Agriculture… Thus read "controlled or subsidized" rather than "owned"… This is easily seen in these as well as the Department of Commerce and Labor, Department of Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Mines, National Park Service, and the IRS control of business through corporate regulations.
8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture. Americans call it Minimum Wage and slave labor like dealing with our Most Favored Nation trade partner; i.e. Communist China. We see it in practice via the Social Security Administration and The Department of Labor. The National debt and inflation caused by the communal bank has caused the need for a two "income" family. Woman in the workplace since the 1920's, the 19th amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, assorted Socialist Unions, affirmative action, the Federal Public Works Program and of course Executive order 11000.
9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries, gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of population over the country. Americans call it the Planning Reorganization act of 1949 , zoning (Title 17 1910-1990) and Super Corporate Farms, as well as Executive orders 11647, 11731 (ten regions) and Public "law" 89-136. These provide for forced relocations and forced sterilization programs, like in China.
10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.
Americans are being taxed to support what we call 'public' schools, but are actually "government force-tax-funded schools " Even private schools are government regulated. The purpose is to train the young to work for the communal debt system. We also call it the Department of Education, the NEA and Outcome Based "Education" . These are used so that all children can be indoctrinated and inculcated with the government propaganda, like "majority rules", and "pay your fair share". WHERE are the words "fair share" in the Constitution, Bill of Rights or the Internal Revenue Code (Title 26)?? NO WHERE is "fair share" even suggested !! The philosophical concept of "fair share" comes from the Communist maxim, "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need! This concept is pure socialism. ... America was made the greatest society by its private initiative WORK ETHIC ... Teaching ourselves and others how to "fish" to be self sufficient and produce plenty of EXTRA commodities to if so desired could be shared with others who might be "needy"... Americans have always voluntarily been the MOST generous and charitable society on the planet.
Do changing words, change the end result? ... By using different words, is it all of a sudden OK to ignore or violate the provisions or intent of the Constitution of the united States of America?????
The people (politicians) who believe in the SOCIALISTIC and COMMUNISTIC concepts, especially those who pass more and more laws implementing these slavery ideas, are traitors to their oath of office and to the Constitution of the united States of America... KNOW YOUR ENEMY ...Remove the enemy from within and from among us.

Let's Stop Fooling Ourselves: Americans Can't Afford the Future

U.S. Is Doomed? Unemployment, Taxes and Unfunded Retirement Are Squeezing  Each Generation, 59% Say It’s No Longer Possible To Work Hard and Get Rich,  There Are Nnow Roughly 142.2 Million Workers Supporting 102.6 Million Not  Working, Global Image of America Plummets, And Endless Government  Manipulation

March 13th, 2013

Let’s  Stop Fooling Ourselves: Americans Can’t Afford the Future

Unemployment, Taxes and Unfunded Retirement are Squeezing Each  Generation

The American spirit is rooted in the belief of a better tomorrow. Its success  has been due to generations of men and women who toiled, through both hardship  and boom times, to make that dream a  reality.

But at some point over the past several decades, that hope for a better  tomorrow became an expectation. Or perhaps a perceived  entitlement is more accurate.

It became assumed that the future would be more prosperous than today,  irrespective of the actual steps being taken in the here and now.

And for a prolonged time – characterized by plentiful and  cheap energy, accelerating globalization, technical innovation, and the  financialization of the economy – it seemed like this  assumption was a certain bet.

But these wonderful tailwinds that America has been enjoying for so many  decades are sputtering out. The forces of resource scarcity, debt saturation,  price inflation, and physical limits will impact our way of life dramatically more going  forward than living generations have experienced to  date.

59%  Say It’s No Longer Possible To Work Hard and Get Rich In U.S.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 27% of  American Adults now say it is possible for anyone in the country to work hard  and get rich, generally unchanged since late 2012.

Fifty-nine percent (59%), though, say that is no longer possible, up from 55%  in late January and the highest level of pessimism in over four years of  surveying. …

These  numbers tell an unsettling story about the U.S. economy

From Global Economic Policy Journal:

In the last 5 years:

•  The  Civilian Institutional Population rose 9.9 Million
•  The  Labor Force rose 0.9 Million
•  Those  Not in the Labor Force rose 9.8 Million
•  Employment  fell by 2.3 Million
•  Full-Time  Employment fell by 5.3 Million
•  Part-Time  Employment rose by 0.9 Million
•  Unemployment  rose by 4.5 Million
•  Food  Stamp usage rose by 20.3 Million

Non-Workers to Workers

Let’s consider the ratio of workers to non-workers. Workers are those  employed, non-workers are everyone else (the unemployed + those not in the labor  force).

In the last five years, the number of non-workers rose by 14.3 million while  the number of workers fell by 5.3 million.

In 2008, there were 144.6 million workers supporting 88.3 million not  working.

There are now roughly 142.2 million workers supporting 102.6 million not  working.

… In the year 2000, there were 1.78 workers for every non-worker. Now there  are only 1.39 workers for every non-worker. Meanwhile, food stamp usage is up  from 17.2 million to 46.6 million, and medical costs are soaring…

World  poll: Image of U.S. declines

Worldwide approval of U.S. leadership dipped considerably during President  Barack Obama’s fourth year in office — but it increased in some countries,  including Mexico.

The median approval rating for U.S. leadership for 130 countries was  41 percent in 2012, down 8 percentage points from the 49 percent approval during  Obama’s first year in office, according to a Gallup poll released  Wednesday.

Gallup asked, “Do you approve or disapprove of the job  performance of the leadership of the United States?”

“This shift suggests that the president and the new secretary of state may  not find global audiences as receptive to the U.S. agenda as they have in the  past. In fact, they may even find even once-warm audiences increasingly  critical,” Gallup’s Julie Ray wrote.

Denial Is Not Just A River In Egypt: 10 Hilarious Examples Of How Clueless Our Leaders Are About The Economy

March 13, 2013

Barack Obama And Ben BernankeThey didn't see it coming last time either. Back in 2007, President Bush, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and just about every prominent voice in the financial world were all predicting that we would experience tremendous economic prosperity well into the future. In fact, as late as January 2008 Bernanke boldly declared that "the Federal Reserve is not currently forecasting a recession." At the time, only the "doom and gloomers" were warning that everything was about to fall apart. And of course we all know what happened. But just a few short years later, history seems to be repeating itself. Barack Obama, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and almost every prominent voice in the financial world are all promising that the U.S. "economic recovery" is going to continue even though Europe is coming apart like a 20 dollar suit. But the economic fundamentals tell a different story. Our national debt is more than $6,000,000,000,000 larger than it was back in 2008, the number of Americans on food stamps just hit another brand new all-time record, and the bankers up on Wall Street are selling gigantic mountains of the exact same kind of toxic derivatives that caused so much trouble the last time around. But all of our "leaders" swear that everything is going to be okay. You can believe them if you want, but denial is not just a river in Egypt, and another crash is inevitably coming.

Sadly, many Americans are not even going to see the crash coming because they still have faith in the "experts". They haven't figured out that the "experts" really do not know what they are doing.

The blind are leading the blind, and in the end the results are going to be absolutely tragic.

The following are 10 hilarious examples of how clueless our leaders are about the economy...

#1 When I first came across the following chart the other day, it made me chuckle. It is a chart that supposedly tells us the "probability" of a recession, and it was taken from the website of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. According to the chart, right now there is a 0.16% chance of a recession...

Smoothed U.S. Recession Probabilities

#2 Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has also been proclaiming his belief that the U.S. economy will continue to grow. The following is an excerpt from his recent remarks to Congress...

The pause in real GDP growth last quarter does not appear to reflect a stalling-out of the recovery. Rather, economic activity was temporarily restrained by weather-related disruptions and by transitory declines in a few volatile categories of spending, even as demand by U.S. households and businesses continued to expand. Available information suggests that economic growth has picked up again this year.

And Bernanke also insists that the labor market is "improving"...

Consistent with the moderate pace of economic growth, conditions in the labor market have been improving gradually.

Of course the labor market is not actually improving. I showed this using the Fed's own numbers the other day.

And you can put stock in Bernanke's forecasting ability if you like, but considering his track record of failure in the past, that might not be too wise. Just check out what he was saying before the last financial crisis: "30 Ben Bernanke Quotes That Are So Stupid That You Won’t Know Whether To Laugh Or Cry".

#3 Although Bernanke has such a nightmarish track record of failure, Warren Buffett still has faith in him. In fact, Buffett loves all of the money printing that Bernanke has been doing...

The U.S. economy might be “dead in the water” without the stimulus provided by the Federal Reserve under Chairman Ben Bernanke, according to Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway.

“I think very cheap money makes things happen, it makes asset values higher. When asset values are higher, people do have a greater propensity to spend,” Buffett told CNBC.

“I think Bernanke has sort of carried the load himself during this period.”

If Buffett thinks the wild money printing that the Fed has been doing is so wonderful, then he probably would have absolutely loved living in the Weimar Republic.

#4 Barack Obama continues to insist that we do not have a debt crisis, but that we will not be able to balance the budget any time in the foreseeable future either.

Even though the national debt has grown by more than 6 trillion dollars under his leadership and our debt to GDP ratio is now well over 100%, Obama does not believe that it is a significant problem...

"We don’t have an immediate crisis in terms of debt"

And Obama certainly does not plan to even come close to balancing the budget during his second term. In fact, he openly admits that we won't see a balanced budget at any point within the next decade...

"We're not gonna balance the budget in 10 years"

Sadly, the truth is that the U.S. will never have a balanced budget ever again under our current system, but most of our politicians are not willing to go that far and admit that sad fact to the American people just yet.

#5 But of course it would certainly help if the U.S. government would stop wasting so much money. For example, did you know that the federal government is helping dead people get free cell phones? The following is from a recent article in the New York Post...

Dead people don’t need cell phones.

That’s the message Rep. Tim Griffin of Arkansas wants to send Congress, after he says a controversial government-backed program that helps provide phones to low-income Americans ended up sending mobiles to the dead relatives of his constituents. Griffin has introduced a bill that targets the phone hand-out program, which has ballooned into a fiscal headache for the government.

And of course a lot of living people are abusing the free cell phone program as well. Rep. Griffin says that he has heard of some people getting as many as 10 free cell phones from the government...

"I’ve also gotten calls from people who say their employees were bragging about having 10 phones."

#6 Meanwhile, the most prominent economic journalist in the United States, Paul Krugman of the New York Times, continues to insist that it is a good thing for the government to be running up so much debt...

First of all... that trillion-dollar deficit is overwhelmingly the result of a depressed economy. And when the economy's depressed it's good to run a deficit. You don't want the government to try and balance its budget right now.

Krugman is also operating under the delusion that the federal government "can't run out of cash", that it can just print money whenever it wants and that printing giant piles of money would not hurt anything.

The United States is a country that has its own currency--can’t run out of cash because we print the money. If you even try to think what would happen--suppose that investors get down on the United States. Even so, that would weaken the dollar, not send interest rates soaring, and that would be good. That would help our exports

It is frightening that the top economic journalist in America has such little understanding of how our system actually works. I would encourage Krugman to read a couple of my previous articles so that he won't be so ignorant in the future...

-"Where Does Money Come From? The Giant Federal Reserve Scam That Most Americans Do Not Understand"

-"10 Things That Every American Should Know About The Federal Reserve"

#7 Many Americans have wondered why the federal government never seems to go after the big Wall Street banks. Well, now we know why. The other day, the Attorney General of the United States admitted that the federal government is very hesitant to prosecute anyone from the big banks because of what it might do to the global economy...

"I am concerned that the size of some of these institutions becomes so large that it does become difficult for us to prosecute them when we are hit with indications that if you do prosecute, if you do bring a criminal charge, it will have a negative impact on the national economy, perhaps even the world economy"

So I guess we now live in a world where there is a different set of rules for the big banks, eh?

Most of us already knew that this was the case, but it is quite chilling to hear the Attorney General of the United States publicly admit this.

#8 Many of the big Wall Street banks are absolutely giddy that the Dow keeps setting new all-time highs, and many of them are projecting wonderful things ahead for the U.S. economy. For example, here is one forecast from Morgan Stanley's Vincent Reinhart ...

"In the Morgan Stanley forecast for the US, the trajectory of economic activity marks an inflection point midway through 2013. The severe financial crisis of 2008-09 necessitated significant downward adjustments by the private sector to the levels of aggregate demand and efficient supply. As the event recedes further into history, however, the drag on growth from these ongoing level adjustments plays out.

In our forecast, the expansion of real GDP steps up to around 2-3/4 percent in the second half of this year and beyond."

#9 Vice-President Joe Biden is pushing economic optimism to ridiculous levels. Apparently he believes that most Americans are "no longer worried" that a major economic crisis is coming...

But all kidding aside, I think the American people have moved -- Democrats, Republicans, independents. They know that the possibilities for this country are immense. They're no longer traumatized by what was a traumatizing event, the great collapse in 2008. They're no longer worried, I think, about our economy being overwhelmed either by Europe writ large, the EU, or China somehow swallowing up every bit of innovation that exists in the world. They're no longer, I think, worried about our economy being overwhelmed beyond our shores.

And I don't think they're any more -- there’s no -- there’s very little doubt in any circles out there about America’s ability to be in position to lead the world in the 21st century, not only in terms of our foreign policy, our incredible defense establishment, but economically.

#10 Right now, many in the financial world are projecting that this will be a year to remember for the stock market. During a recent interview with Fox Business, Wharton School of Business Finance Professor Jeremy Siegel declared that the Dow will cross the 16,000 mark by the end of this year...

"I think by the end of this year, we’ll be in the 16,000 to 17,000 range."

Of course it is true that other analysts have a much different view of things. Many of them are absolutely amazed that the U.S. economy has become so disconnected from economic reality. For example, just check out what Steve Russell and Hamish Baillie, fund managers at the Ruffer Investment Company, recently had to say...

"If this was explained to a recently arrived Martian he would no doubt be puzzled – US unemployment has almost doubled since 2007, GDP [gross domestic product] growth is a third lower and debt as a percentage of GDP is within a whisker of doubling. The market is forward looking but this is extreme"

So who is right and who is wrong?

Time will tell.

Fortunately, it appears that the American people are getting fed up with the constant stream of lies that they have been told.

According to a new Pew Research survey, just 26 percent of all Americans trust the government to do the right thing.

So what about you?

Do you trust what the government and the "experts" are telling you?

Do you trust them to do the right thing?

How to Live Off the Land

Survival Tips for Living Off the Land and Surviving in the Wilderness. If America Collapses you May Want to Have a Back-Up Plan for Survival.

by Mark Lawrence, Copyright © SecretsofSurvival.com. All rights reserved.

Wilderness Survival - Living Off the Land How many readers here remember the movie "Red Dawn" from the early 1980s? Guess what -- the Wolverines are back in a new Red Dawn.

Americans Under Attack - Some Fight Back, Survive in the Wilderness

What if "Red Dawn" ever actually took place? Russia, China and other nations (think Iran, North Korea, and America's enemies in South America) knock out America's defenses and then send fighters and troops into our borders.

Americans are shot, locked away in concentration camps.

Cities and towns fall, one after another, even as an American resistance force rises up from the ashes. Young men and women take up arms, live off the land, and fight from the surrounding country side.

If Society Collapses...

There is always the chance that people across this planet will be left to fend for themselves if society ever collapses -- as it has for civilizations many times throughout history.

Is the modern world any different? Not when there seem to be even more threats today.

Why Learning How to Live Off the Land May One Day Save Your Life

Fleeing into the Wilderness

Where Do You Go?

Once you're certain that it's not safe to stay in your community -- due to a disaster or other catastrophe -- you should have an escape plan in mind, that you have already scouted, and mapped out, preferably months in advance.

Be prepared for an emergency.

You can do something as simple as use Google Earth to give you a general idea of different wilderness areas you – if you're still here – can flee to in your state after a disaster has struck.

When you have two or three locations in mind go to a backcountry store that sells topographical maps (such as "Green Trails" maps) and you can easily locate hiking trails, creeks, rivers, and small lakes, elevation points, and even identify different types of terrain, which will give you a better idea of exactly what you're up against.)

You also should have a compass that you've practiced using so that when the time comes to flee into the wilderness you'll know how to find your way without getting lost.

(If you live in a southern state, consider heading north, and seek out an area that receives plenty of rain. You'll have much better odds at survival and less odds of dying of heat stroke or wildfire.)

Consider a destination many miles away from any roads, however that is close to rivers, forest, meadows, and even one or more small lakes.

This will put distance between you and the disaster (or other threats) behind you as well as provide suitable hunting, fishing, trapping, and fresh water sources.

Make sure the route you choose to get there doesn't include rivers that are impossible to cross. If you do come to a river that's impassable the only option you may have is to hike along the banks until you come to the narrowest / shallowest part of the river -- and that's where you can consider making your crossing.

Keep a Small Backpack in your Car

Months before you even hit the trail you should have a large backpack at your house (commonly used for multi-day hikes) and a small backpack in the trunk of your car -- commonly called a bug out bag. Be prepared. If you're stuck in the city when disaster hits -- and have to abandon your car-- the small backpack in the trunk of your car can help you survive -- even if you have to hike fifty miles to get home.

Items to keep in the trunk of your car:

1. Bottled water.

2. A small radio with batteries.

3. A flashlight.

4. Sleeping bag and string (so you can tie the sleeping bag firmly to your backpack)

5. Extra clothing -- I recommend two pairs of pants (jeans and / or running pants) and two hooded sweat-shirts. In addition, I recommend light water-proof "rain pants" such as those worn by runners out in the weather, that can be pulled over the top of your pants / jeans, as well as a water-proof jacket.

Cotton material (such as sweats, sweat shirts, and jeans) are dangerous in wet, cold conditions -- because, once wet, cotton clothing will deplete your body temperature, which means hypothermia in cold (or even simply cool) conditions. Having light rain gear handy that you can throw over your clothing can go along way to keeping your relatively warm and dry.

If the rain is really coming down you may have to find shelter until the brunt of the storm passes.

Layering Your Clothing

There's a great chance you're going to face cold, wet conditions at some point. Physical exertion in the cold can be dangerous; though the physical exertion may warm you up, your clothing will collect the sweat off your body and the cold air around you will cool that sweat down so much that when you stop moving finally you may quickly face hypothermia... and freeze to death.

If you layer your clothing correctly, and choose a "base layer" (the layer closest to your skin) made from non-cotton material that wicks away moisture you can stay warm and avoid hypothermia.

You should have at least two complete outfits (a top and bottom), so that each bottom and top can be worn in layers for added warmth. Homeless people are known to wear 5 or 6 layers (sometimes more, depending on climate) in order to stay warm. Learn from the homeless in this regard.

Wool for Cold Weather

In addition, seriously consider wool socks (warmer than cotton, and even when wet wool can still maintain warmth), and a wool stocking cap -- even if it's not fall or winter. If you find yourself in an emergency situation and have to sleep outdoors, a stocking cap will help you get through the night with a lot more comfort.

Of course in the spring, fall or winter months, you should have a coat with you at all times. A ski mask is an added bonus. Look for one that only has one large hole where your eyes and nose go. (Only wear it if you absolutely have to to keep warm otherwise you may freak people out when you pull out the type of ski mask that bank robbers wear; the last thing you want to do is call attention to yourself in a situation where there's panic and chaos.)

6. Dry food that doesn't spoil (peanut butter, dried beans, shelled and un-salted sunflower seeds, granola bars, etc).

7. A canvas tarp (if it's folded and compressed it will take up very little space).

8. A good knife.

9. A lighter (in fact pack multiple lighters; protect them from moisture in a Zip-Lock freezer bag -- you can hand out extra lighters to people in need).

10. A candle (very useful for getting a campfire going as the constant flame will help ignite wet tinder).

11. A compass.

12. Two extra-large heavy duty garbage bags (look for "contractor" garbage bags at your local hardware store). One you can use as a rain coat -- poke holes in the sides for your arms and poke another hole for your head. The other (if you have a 30 gallon or bigger bag), you can attempt to curl up and sleep in if no other shelter is available or if you forget to pack a canvas tarp as advised above. These bags have an additional use: When the weather is bad wear one over your backpack to protect it from the rain.

13. Weapons for self-defense, depending on how you feel about that and what's legal in your area. You can do sufficient damage to allow time to escape with a can of bear pepper spray, for example. A bowie knife is also a good deterrant.

14. Good shoes, such as those used for "cross-training" or "trail-running" (it's very important that your shoes lace-up well so that they don't come un-tied if you have to make a run for it.).

15. As mentioned above have a small backpack. Nothing big or someone else might want to take it from you while your hiking through the city. Also make sure it's dark in color without a fancy label on it (so it doesn't attract attention or make you look like someone with money or resources) and waterproof. (If you don't have the money for a waterproof backpack use the garbage bags to protect your backpack's contents.)

16. State map. Keep this map in your backpack stored in a Zip-Lock freezer bag to protect from moisture.

17. Also keep a few pieces of paper in this freezer bag along with your lighter. The paper can be torn into strips and used to start a camp fire if your candle runs out. Use the knife you're carrying to carve wood shavings out of trees or branches to help ignite any wet wood you may be stuck using.

18. Last but not least: 5 - 10 high calorie energy bars (just be sure to check the expiration date). These energy bars should be enough food to last you until you make it to your house. Sure we mentioned dry food above already, but energy bars deserve their own chategory.

Essentially, depending on the problem you're most likely to face (which I believe is being stranded in a large city when you're miles from home -- while your wilderness supplies are all at your house), you can decide what you may need / not need in this backpack you store in the trunk of your car.

Important: You should have two backpacks. One in the trunk of your car, and the other (much larger, commonly used for multi-day hiking) at your home already packed and ready to hit the wilderness.

(Even if you never use your survival pack -- someone else you know will, if you let them know where they can find it. Having a number of articles on survival packed inside will most likely come in handy when they need it most. Remember to pack a small Bible with a personal note instructing them to read the Book of Revelation, the last chapter of the Bible. Lets face it -- if all Hell breaks loose and modern day society completely collapses you can bet that the Bible is real -- and that the end times are really happening. You really think this is all an accident? Laugh...)

Even More Warning Signs: Obama Poised for Hostile Military Takeover of U.S. – Part 2

Even More Warning Signs: Obama Poised for Hostile  Military Takeover of U.S. – Part 2

War on America3jpgA  week ago, I laid out a list of things President Obama has put in place to set  the nation up for his hostile  military takeover.

After my first post about Obama’s hostile military takeover, I received an  email from a reader that offered an explanation to my pondering of why NOAA  (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) would also be ordering  millions of rounds of ammunition and assault rifles.  He offered the idea  that it is an ironic twist to Obama’s relationship with terrorist Bill  Ayers.

Ayers was a wanted domestic terrorist back in the 1960s and 1970s.   Ayers was a co-founder of the terrorist group known as the Weather  Underground.  Now, Obama is using NOAA, a federal weather agency to  stockpile weapons and ammunition for his terrorist assault on the American  people.

Today, I would like to add a few more items to that list that makes the case  for his hostile military takeover even more compelling.

It has now been confirmed that the goal of the Department of Homeland  Security is to purchase a total of 1.6  billion rounds of ammunition.  A portion of that ammunition is hollow  point bullets, which have been banned from use in war by international  law.  Another portion is specialized sniper ammunition.

In case you have a difficult time comprehending the significance of 1.6  billion rounds of ammunition, allow me to give you a couple of  comparisons.  During the height of the war in Iraq, the US  Army fired less than 6 million rounds per month.  That means DHS has  enough ammunition to supply the US Army for 266.67 months (22.22 years) of  intense war.

Currently, the DHS uses approximately 15  million rounds of ammunition every year at their various training  facilities.  At that rate, they have enough ammunition for 106.67 years of  training.

So ask yourself, what is the justification for the purchase of 1.6 billion  rounds of ammunition by the Department of Homeland Security, especially when  some of it is illegal to use in war?  Now ask yourself why Sen. Dianne  Feinstein is so concerned about private citizens stockpiling ammunition, weapons  and using high capacity magazines when the federal government is doing the same  time only a thousand times more?

Perhaps the abundance of ammunition goes along with the purchase of ‘Mine  Resistant Protected’ MaxxPro MRAP vehicles that are scheduled to be deployed  on the streets of America.  The number of vehicles they are purchasing has  not been released, but they are part of the 2,717 that have been recently  retrofitted by the manufacturer.  The DHS appears to be taking delivery of  the armored vehicles through the Marine Corps Systems Command located in  Quantico, Virginia.

The scary part of the DHS acquiring MRAP vehicles is that they have been  already been spotted in a number of cities throughout the country.  DHS  cannot deny their existence since a number of them have been photographed and  videoed by citizen observers.  Why would DHS need so many, assuming they  are purchasing over a thousand, MRAP vehicles deployed throughout the US, unless  they are preparing for a war of some kind.  Now add to that question the  fact that the MRAP vehicles are equipped with gun ports.

There can be no doubt that Barack Hussein Obama is preparing for the  bloodiest war in American history and it’s going to take place here on American  soil.  When?  It has to be prior to the 2016 election, unless he  manages to force a constitutional amendment allowing himself to run for a third  term.  However, I truly don’t think the amendment will be necessary,  because he plans to forcibly take control of the country prior to the  election.  Everything points to the conclusion that this is all in  preparation for a hostile military takeover.

Psychiatric Evaluation Of Resident Obama!

Psychiatric Evaluation Of Resident Obama!

In recent years, a new type of terrorist threat has emerged: the “lone wolf.” A Lone wolf presents a challenge for current law enforcement of The United States Of America. Because  lone wolves’ remain obscure, no readily available set of policies is likely to have a significant effect.

In the United States, federal law defines terrorism in many different ways. “International Terrorism” and “Domestic Terrorism” are defined similarly as unlawful “acts dangerous to human life” that “appear to be intended” to coerce civilians or influence government policy.18 Title 18 of the U.S. Code. On the other hand, State-sponsored terrorism, is the active support of a terrorist group by a national government.

Who is Obama?

Obama is not an ordinary man. He is not a genius. In fact he is quite ignorant on most important subjects. Barack Obama is a narcissist. Dr. Sam Vaknin, the author of the Malignant Self Love, also believes, Barack Obama appears to be a narcissist.

Vaknin is a world authority on narcissism. He understands narcissism and describes the inner mind of a narcissist like no other person. When he talks about narcissism everyone listens.  Vaknin says that Obama’s language, posture and demeanor, and the testimonies of his closest, dearest and nearest suggest that the Senator is either a narcissist or he may have narcissistic personality disorder (NPD).

Vaknin explains: “Narcissistic leaders are nefarious and their effects pernicious. They are subtle, refined, socially-adept, manipulative, possessed of thespian skills, and convincing. Both types [cerebral and somatic] equally lack empathy and are ruthless and relentless or driven.”  These were the very traits that distinguished Hitler and Khomeini.

Many of these traits can be seen in Obama. As for his ruthlessness, perhaps his support of legislation to let babies die if they survive abortion, gives a glimps into his soul, that he may lack empathy, does not value life, and if in the position of power can be ruthless. Narcissists need power to show their ruthlessness. Considering the fact that Obama neglected his own half brother, George Hussein Obama, who lives on one dollar per month in Kenya, we can’t vouch for Obama’s empathy or say he is a caring person.

narcissism

What is Narcissism?

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) describes narcissism as a personality disorder that“revolve around a pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and sense of entitlement. Often individuals feel overly important and will exaggerate achievements and will accept, and often demand, praise and admiration despite worthy achievements.”

The third and fourth editions of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of 1980 and 1994 and the European ICD-10 describe NPD in similar language:

An all-pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration or adulation and lack of empathy, usually beginning by early adulthood and present in various contexts.  Five (or more) of the following criteria must be met:

  • Feels grandiose and self-important (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents to the point of lying, demands to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
  • Is obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, fame, power or omnipotence, unequalled brilliance (the cerebral narcissist), bodily beauty or sexual performance (the somatic narcissist), or ideal, everlasting, all-conquering love or passion
  • Is firmly convinced that he is unique and, being special, can only be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other special,  unique, or high-status people (or institutions)
  • Requires excessive admiration, adulation, attention and affirmation, or failing that, wishes to be feared and notorious (narcissistic supply)
  • Feels entitled.  Expects unreasonable or special and favorable priority treatment.  Demands automatic and full compliance with his expectations
  • Is “interpersonally exploitative” i.e., uses others to achieve his or her own ends
  • Is devoid of empathy.  Is unable or unwilling to identify with or acknowledge the feelings and needs of others
  • Is constantly envious of others or believes that they feel the same about him or her
  • Is arrogant, has haughty behaviors or attitudes coupled with rage when frustrated, contradicted, or confronted
narcissism

Obama inebriated with the fantasy of unlimited success.

Pathological narcissism, is not akin to typical narcissism—someone with a hedonistic or self-centered sense of self —but rather someone with a very weak sense of self. Obama’s narcissism is pathological.

Narcissists seek power. That is the whole purpose of their existence. Power for them is the elixir of life.  Those who know about NPD can’t help but notice it in Obama’s posture, the tone of his voice, his demeanor and particularly his grandiose claims and unscripted adlibs.

Narcissim has degrees. When it is extreme it shows in the posture and the way the narcissist walks and talks. Obama’s posture, exudes haughtiness. He is all puffery. Compare his posture to those of Hitler, Stalin and Saddam.

According to Vaknin, Obama displays the following behaviors, which are among the hallmarks of pathological narcissism:

- Subtly misrepresents facts and expediently and opportunistically shifts positions, views, opinions, and “ideals” (e.g., about campaign finance, re-districting). These flip-flops do not cause him overt distress and are ego-syntonic (he feels justified in acting this way). Alternatively, refuses to commit to a standpoint and, in the process, evidences a lack of empathy.

- Ignores data that conflict with his fantasy world, or with his inflated and grandiose self-image. This has to do with magical thinking. Obama already sees himself as president because he is firmly convinced that his dreams, thoughts, and wishes affect reality. Additionally, he denies the gap between his fantasies and his modest or limited real-life achievements (for instance, in 12 years of academic career, he didn’t publish a single scholarly paper or book).

obama yell

Can Obama be trusted as the leader of the free world?

- Feels that he is above the law.

- Talks about himself in the 3rd person singluar or uses the regal “we” and craves to be the exclusive center of attention, even adulation

- Has a messianic-cosmic vision of himself and his life and his “mission”.

- Sets ever more complex rules in a convoluted world of grandiose fantasies with its own language (jargon)

- Displays false modesty and unctuous “folksiness” but is unable to sustain these behaviors (the persona, or mask) for long. It slips and the true Obama is revealed: haughty, aloof, distant, and disdainful of simple folk and their lives.

Hitler Yell

- Sublimates aggression and holds grudges.

- Behaves as an eternal adolescent (e.g., his choice of language, youthful image he projects, demands indulgence and feels entitled to special treatment, even though his objective accomplishments do not justify it).

Narcissists project a grandiose but false image of themselves.

Adolph Hitler are a few examples of narcissists of our time.

All these men had a tremendous influence over their fanciers. They created a personality cult around themselves and with their blazing speeches elevated their admirers’ souls, filled their hearts with enthusiasm and instilled in their minds a new zest for life. They gave them hope! They promised them the moon, but alas, invariably they brought them to their doom. When you are a victim of a cult of personality, you don’t know it until it it too late.

One determining factor in the development of NPD is childhood abuse. “Obama’s early life was decidedly chaotic and replete with traumatic and mentally bruising dislocations,” says Vaknin. “Mixed-race marriages were even less common then. His parents went through a divorce when he was an infant (two years old). Obama saw his father only once again, before he died in a car accident. Then, his mother re-married and Obama had to relocate to Indonesia: a foreign land with a radically foreign culture, to be raised by a step-father. At the age of ten, he was whisked off to live with his maternal (white) grandparents. He saw his mother only intermittently in the following few years and then she vanished from his life in 1979. She died of cancer in 1995.”

In Vaknin’s words, “Pathological narcissism is a reaction to prolonged abuse and trauma in early childhood or early adolescence. The source of the abuse or trauma is immaterial: the perpetrators could be dysfunctional or absent parents, teachers, other adults, or peers.”

The pathological narcissist has a very weak sense of self. He compensates his devalued and injured self with pomposity and by projecting a false image of majesty and authority. He retreats into a bubble universe of fantasy, in which he is loved, respected and omnipotent. All children create such a world. Narcissists simply don’t leave it.  They carry this world of pretence into their adulthood. With the passage of time, this world becomes to them as real as the real world, to the point that they can’t tell the difference. When Obama acts presidential, he is simply acting out his childhood fantasy of omnipotence and grandeur. Emotionally, he is still a little hurt boy, neglected and unloved in the body and mind of a grown up man. Such people can be dangerous. Narcissists have the emotional maturity of a child, or even an animal, but the intellect of a man. They feel like a beast, but think like a human.

Indoctrination

If we look into the childhood of all narcissists, we can see that invariably they were abused. Saddam was born to a widow who after losing her husband and her 12 year old son was so distressed that she attempted suicide. Before his birth, she would pull out clumps of her hair and pummel her pregnant abdomen with her fists. Saddam Hussein in his own official biography recounts his unhappy childhood. Hitler was the son of a very abusive man who would beat him regularly. From Saddam to Osama, to Hitler, to Stalin, to Khomeini, to Mao and to Kim Jong Ill, it is wounded childhood that causes NPD. Obama’s chaotic childhood and his continuous struggle to find his identity make him a prime candidate for NPD.

Hitler was confused about his identity. His father was an illegitimate son of a Jew. He chose to be in denial of that part of himself and his response was the genocide of the Khazar Jews. Obama’s search for his identity led him to a racist church that preached “Black Power.” He changed his given name Barry to Barack, in an atempt to rid himself of the only vestige he had with his white heritage.

Hmmm who IS Obama?

Hmmm who IS Obama?

Narcissists have only one issue. They want power and will do and say anything to get it. Their words mean nothing to them. They do not intend to keep them. They look into your eyes and swear on a stack of Bibles that they are not going to do something when that is exactly what they intend to do.

Taqiyya-TROP.jpg

They break their promises when it suits them and annul their treaties when they can get away with it.  They lie, and lie, and lie, and lie, and lie, and lie, and lie, and lie, and lie, and lie, and lie, and lie, and lie, and lie.

Narcissists are pathological liars.  They lie even to themselves. Ironically, they are the first to believe their own lies. When normal people lie, they show signs of distress. Narcissists don’t. They can pass any polygraph test with flying colors. It is this conviction that fools people around them making them believe in their truthfulness and sincerity. In a twisted way they are sincere because, although they are conscience that they are not truthful, they believe in their own lies.  This is difficult to understand and even more difficult to explain, but for a narcissist fantasy and reality are intertwined. The narcissist’s delusional thoughts of grandiosity are real to him.

Obama absorbed in reveries of omnipotence

Obama absorbed in reveries of omnipotence.

Narcissistic Society

Germans are not particularly an evil race. They are no better or worse than any other nation. And yet, despite their advanced culture and civility they committed the most hideous crime in modern history. They murdered up to ten million people, because those unfortunate souls did not meet their “Master Race standards of ethnic purity.” Hitler did not kill anyone; the Germans did.

So the question is: What made these smart and highly civilized people commit such horrendous acts of savagery?

World's Biggest Ponzi Scheme Induced By Ben Bernanke Is Getting Ready To Explode

World’s Biggest Ponzi Scheme Induced By Ben Bernanke Is Getting Ready To Explode

Casey Research: An update on the coming “bond market crash”

This Ponzi scheme is getting ready to explode…

From Bud Conrad, Chief Economist, Casey Research:

It is my contention that the 70-year debt supercycle has come to an end.

To put the current financial situation in perspective, here’s a long-term history of the debt-to-GDP ratio, which reached a record high at the beginning of the current crisis. It was a dramatic change in 2009, unlike anything since the aftermath of the Great Depression.

The highest the debt-to-GDP ratio had previously been for the United States was 301% at the bottom of the depression in 1933 when GDP collapsed and debt was high. The level became unsustainable in 2009, despite low interest rates. Weak borrowers were signing up to finance houses that they thought would increase in price forever. The point of the chart is that this downturn is different from all the recessions since World War II. Read more at http://investmentwatchblog.com

6 Ways Our Supreme Court Has Defiled Our Constitution

6 Ways Our Supreme Court Has Defiled Our Constitution

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Gary Corseri Activist Post
O tenderest of mercies!  The right to speak one’s mind freely, the right to question and challenge—upon which all other rights are hinged!
1. “Corporate Personhood”
The first attack came almost two hundred years ago in 1819, as the Industrial Revolution was beginning to spin serious wheels in the budding Empire.  Blacks picked cotton in the South and the mills hummed in Lowell, Mass., and other river-blessed locations in the North.  It was a hundred years after Newcomen’s steam engine, and less than two decades after Fulton’s steamboat would once again spur our westward expansion. Given such multifactoral impetus, and its own proclivity—established by Marshall—to oversight, how could our Supreme Court restrain its worst intentions?
And so it declared, in “Trustees of Dartmouth College vs Woodward,” the principle of “corporate personhood.”  The Court was essentially restating the 14th Amendment, but now equating the “rights” of corporations to be as free as real, live, human beings from any State’s denial of “equal protection”  under the laws within its jurisdiction.
Of course, this 14th Amendment “equal protection” did not apply to cotton-picking slaves, “Indian savages,” women, etc.!   And that’s the assault on our national consciousness and conscience.  And we have lived with that assault for nearly two centuries!
2. “Fire in a Crowded Theater”
Fast forward exactly 1 century.

Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. is now Chief Justice, and the “budding Empire” is now fully fledged, not content with spreading its eagle-wings over its own continent, but, since the Monroe Doctrine, having declared its hegemony over the Western hemisphere, tightening such with the Spanish-American war—the result of which sees it slaughtering hundreds of thousands of Filipinos when they declare their own right to “freedom of speech” and an independent republic! Up to my own boyhood in New York City, Oliver Wendell Holmes’ father’s poem, “Old Ironsides,” was still standard 9th grade fare.  They say the acorn doesn’t fall far from the oak, and we may discern something of his son’s patriotic fervor in his father’s bombastic poem about an a War of 1812 ship about to be scuttled.  Here’s the middle stanza:
Her deck, once red with heroes' blood,
Where knelt the vanquished foe,
When winds were hurrying o'er the flood,
And waves were white below,
No more shall feel the victor's tread,
Or know the conquered knee;--
The harpies of the shore shall pluck
The eagle of the sea!
The “heroes' blood” with which Oliver, Jr. wanted to anoint the world, the “victor’s tread” he wanted to protect, belonged to those doughboys drafted to fight Mr. Wilson’s “War To End All Wars.”  A group of peacniks had tried to exercise their freedom of speech by distributing flyers opposed to the draft.  When the case of “Schenck v. the United States” came before the Supreme Court, Chief Justice Holmes argued in favor of abridging free speech, asserting:
The most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man falsely shouting fire in a crowded theater and causing a panic. [...] The question in every case is whether the words used are used in such circumstances and are of such a nature as to create a clear and present danger that they will bring about the substantive evils that Congress has a right to prevent.
Thus, Holmes provides us two salient phrases in one short paragraph: “shouting fire in a theater” and “clear and present danger.”
Defenders of Holmes like to underline the word “falsely” to excuse their man’s unsubtle attack on our First Amendment.  I think they miss the point.  Is the distribution of anti-war material really analogous to “falsely shouting fire in a crowded theater?”  One could argue that the peace cadets were actually trying to prevent or contain the fire that was then enveloping the world!  Further, the “clear and present danger” was already there—it was called the Great War!
Fifty years later, during another unnecessary war (as almost all wars are—despite the pageantry and rhetoric), the Supreme Court at least tempered Holmes’ imperious judgment in the case of Brandenburg v. Ohio, limiting “banned speech” to the incitation of “imminent lawless action.”  Of course, a lot of damage had been done in the meantime.  Free speech had been suppressed, and generations had come and gone censoring themselves and others.
3.  Plessy v. Ferguson
Another time the Supreme Court actually followed Spike Lee’s general advice to “do the right thing” was in 1954 with “Brown v. Board of Education.”  Once again, the Justices were actually correcting the myopic vision of their predecessors’ decision in the 1896 case of Plessy v. Ferguson, with its “separate but equal” gobbledygook about schools for folks with white skin and for other folks with black.  In my childhood, I remember driving through the South with my parents, seeing numerous billboards with the injunction, “Impeach Earl Warren!”  Warren’s infamously “liberal” court had had the effrontery to unanimously aver that “separate educational facilities are inherently unequal.”
Even as an 8-year old I could see the logic in that!  But now, I wonder: how many 8-year olds had gone to school over a 60-year period and never even knew they were being educated and indoctrinated in a system that would not recognize their essential equality?  And what did “freedom of speech” mean in those segregated schools where teachers and administrators were enjoined to follow the Supreme Court sanctioned script?  How many ardent voices were stifled and lost because the script was rotten… and “the law of the land”?
4.  Violent Video Games
Let’s move on to the past couple of years.
Writing for the New York Times on June 28, 2011, critic Seth Schiesel cheered:
It is now the law of the United States that video games are art.  It is now the law of the United States that video games are a creative, intellectual, emotional form of expression and engagement, as fundamentally human as any other.
In the case of “Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association,” June, 2011, writing for the five justices in the majority, Antonin Scalia cogitated:
Like the protected books, plays and movies that preceded them, video games communicate ideas—and even social messages—through many familiar literary devices (such as characters, dialogue, plot and music) and through features distinctive to the medium (such as the player’s interaction with the virtual world.  That suffices to confer First Amendment protection.
Here’s another example of our First Amendment being whacked … and stretched to fit the model first postulated by Marshall’s court back in 1819; i.e., that corporations are entitled—yes, that word, “entitlement”—entitled to the same protections as “persons” under the First Amendment.  And that means, entitled to make as much money from susceptible kids as is humanly—or corporately—possible.
Whether Grand Theft Auto should be placed in the same category as The Outline of History (books), Hamlet (plays) or Casablanca (movies) is a fine point Justice Scalia seems unwilling to consider.  (Porn violence, shouldn’t it more properly be placed with Debbie Does Dallas?)
Here’s another example of a SCOTUS decision which one hopes a much more rational, real, live people-serving Court will overturn (sooner rather than later).  I’ll use Schiesel’s words from his pro-decision article to make some counterpoints.  (And, not to poison the well too much, let’s recall that Mr. Schiesel works for one of the largest and most powerful news corporations in the world).
Thus,
Monday’s decision invalidated a California law intended to regulate the sale of violent video games to children. As someone who plays hundreds of hours of violent video games every year, I certainly recognize that many are extremely inappropriate for children. It would be unconscionable to allow a young child to sit through, much less control, the gory scenes in some games, just as it would be to let them watch an R-rated “torture porn” film.
With a game like “Grand Theft Auto IV,” set in a satirice rendition of New York City, there are certainly 16-year-olds who will do nothing but embark on wild virtual crime sprees. … That doesn’t mean that game retailers should sell anything to anyone. The game industry has adopted an internal ratings and enforcement system that is at least as effective as the similarly private and voluntary system for Hollywood films. It is only responsible that any media industry give parents thorough information about the violence and sexual content of its products.
But as the court ruled on Monday, deciding just what ideas children may be exposed to is not the proper role of government.
To which one feels compelled to respond to Messrs. Schiesel and Scalia—as Joseph Welch responded to the demagogue McCarthy during the infamous Congressional witch-hunt of 1954: “Have you no sense of decency, sir?  At long last, have you left no sense of decency?”
Is this not one of the great myths of our Corporatocracy, allowing for the mangling of our First Amendment: “As the Court ruled on Monday, deciding just what ideas children may be exposed to is not the proper role of government”?  Actually, is our government not constantly deciding what ideas our children may be exposed to from the first time they pledge allegiance to the flag, to the books they read throughout public school?
The plain fact is, those kids most in need of “parental guidance” are the ones least likely to get it.(Let’s recall Newtown’s Adam Lanza, for example, holed up in his basement, saturating his tortured mind with the bizarre, violent, blood-letting of “Grand Theft Auto,” etc.)  But, in a world as skewed as ours, the rights of “corporate persons” to make tons of money by mind-raping kids trumps the rights of flesh-and-blood persons to protect their children from garbage videos, garbage food, garbage pharmaceuticals, etc.
5. Corporations United
All of which leads up to the “Citizens United” decision of 2012.
All that is necessary to correct most of the problems of the world, said Confucius, is “to rectify the names.”  In which case, I submit, the name of this perverse decision be changed to “Corporations United.”
If Marshall’s court declared in 1819 that corporations were entitled to the same rights and privileges guaranteed to persons under the Fourteenth Amendment, then “Citizens United” took matters one step further and stressed what every American already knows: Money talks!  With the same sort of twisted logic the Court applied in Plessy v. Ferguson (“separate, but equal”), we now have the Court affirming that those with the most loot can game the system, stack the deck, purchase the biggest bullhorn (the glitziest TV ads, etc.) while maintaining that beloved fiction of “one person, one vote”!
Basically, the Court  struck down provisions of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 that had prohibited corporations and unions from spending on “electioneering communications.”  (Nice touch to add “unions” there!  One wonders if all the unions in America could match the buying power of one giant corporation!)
The sagacious Justice Stevens led the four “liberal” dissenters to the majority opinion.  In a 90-page dissent, Stevens averred that the ruling “threatens to undermine the integrity of elected institutions across the Nation. … A democracy cannot function effectively when its constituent members believe laws are being bought and sold.”
That pretty much cans the cant: “laws are being bought and sold”!6. The Voting Rights Act
The sixth instance of Court defilement is not yet a “case,” merely a “review.”  But, one must wonder: with glaring, documented examples of “voter suppression” in the 2012 election, why would the Court train its beagle eyes on the Voting Rights Act of 1965—perhaps the best achievement of the Johnson Administration?
Once again, Justice Antonin S. has put himself out front of the pack.  He wonders about the “phenomenon that is called racial entitlement.”
There’s that loaded word again—“entitlement.”  It seems that, in the Court’s purview, protecting a people’s right to freedom of speech and assembly—manifesting most fundamentally in their right to vote—is some sort of suspect “entitlement.”  But, a corporation’s right to spend multi-millions on “electioneering”—that is not an “entitlement,” that is protected under our First Amendment!
The timing here is one “phenomenon” that seems to have eluded Mr. Scalia.  As The Washington Post noted:
The challenge to Section 5 of the 1965 Voting Rights Act was launched two years ago, and the court added it to its docket just days after an energized minority electorate played a critical role in the reelection of President Obama, the nation’s first African American president.
It’s well past time to exercise our First Amendment (while we still can) to speak out against the abuses and myopia of our very flawed Supreme Court!

An Orwellian America

An Orwellian America

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

By Gordon T. Long

As a young man, I voraciously read George Orwell’s “1984”,Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World” and Alvin Toffler's trilogy which included "Future Shock"', "The Third Wave" and "Power Shift". During the era of the Vietnam War, I wondered seriously about the future and how it was destined to unfold. Now being considerably older, I have the vantage point to reflect back on my early ruminations and expectations. Unfortunately, I am too old to alter the lessons that are now so painfully obvious. Instead, I pass the gauntlet to those who can understand and take action on what I have unavoidably come to expect for America.

A FRAMEWORK OF UNDERSTANDING

THE 'HUXLEY-ORWELL' TRANSITION

I recently read a perceptive paper by Chris Hedges that would have made any English Professor envious, powerfully philosophical but not something an Economics department would pay much attention to. I found it both intriguing and enlightening.

I have borrowed so heavily from it, that I am unsure where the lines diverge. Therefore, below I give full credit to Chris Hedges and take full credit for all the bad ideas.

Chris Hedges of TruthDig.com wrote2011: A Brave New Dystopia, from which the following evolved.

The two greatest visions of a future dystopia were George Orwell’s “1984” and Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World.” The debate, between those who watched our descent towards corporate totalitarianism, was who was right. Would we be, as Orwell wrote, dominated by a repressive surveillance and security state that used crude and violent forms of control? Or would we be, as Huxley envisioned, entranced by entertainment and spectacle, captivated by technology and seduced by profligate consumption to embrace our own oppression? It turns out Orwell and Huxley were both right. Huxley saw the first stage of our enslavement. Orwell saw the second.

We have been gradually disempowered by a corporate state that, as Huxley foresaw, seduced and manipulated us through:

  • Sensual gratification,
  • Cheap mass-produced goods,
  • Boundless credit,
  • Political theater and
  • Amusement.

While we were entertained,

  • The regulations that once kept predatory corporate power in check were dismantled,
  • The laws that once protected us were rewritten and
  • We were impoverished.

Now that:

  • Credit is drying up,
  • Good jobs for the working class are gone forever and
  • Mass-produced goods are unaffordable,

.... we find ourselves transported from “Brave New World” to “1984.”

The state, crippled by massive deficits, endless war and corporate malfeasance, is clearly sliding toward unavoidable bankruptcy.

It is time for Big Brother to take over from Huxley’s feelies, the orgy-porgy and the centrifugal bumble-puppy.

We are transitioning from a society where we are skillfully manipulated by lies and illusions to one where we are overtly controlled.

Huxley, we are discovering, was merely the prelude to Orwell.

Now that the corporate coup is over, we stand naked and defenseless. We are beginning to understand, as Karl Marx knew:

Unfettered and unregulated capitalism is a brutal and revolutionary force that exploits human beings and the natural world until exhaustion or collapse.

UNSOUND MONEY LEADS TO STATISM

With this as a backdrop let's explore how Unsound Money in concert with the Huxley-Orwell Transition leads to Statism, the path which I believe we are presently on.

THE CATALYSTS BEHIND THE "TRANSITION"

1- UNSOUND MONEY

  • Removal from Gold Standard and adoption of Fiat Currency regime (in August 1971 during the winding down of the Vietnam War; the first War ever fought without tax increases to pay for it; the beginning of endless 'conflicts' and the War on "Terror").
  • Creation and Fostering of a $67 Trillion Shadow Banking Credit Growth,
  • Massive Securitization & Off Balance Sheet Contingent Liability Debt Growth.

2- POLICY FAILURES

  • Failed Monetary Policy & Monetary Malpractice,
  • Moral Malady,
  • Failed Fiscal Policy,
  • Failed Public Policy,
  • Growth of Political Polarization,
  • Entrenched 'Left-Right' Factions,
  • An Un-Governable Democracy.

3- CRISIS OF TRUST

  • Lost Respect & Confidence
  • A Doomed Middle Class
  • A Broken Social Contract

4- AUTHORITARIAN ACCEPTANCE

  • Central Planning
  • Growth in Regulations & Control
  • Crony Capitalism & Corporatocracy
  • Big Government
  • The Huxley - Orwell Transition

CRUMBLING BARRIERS

  • The Great Huxley-Orwell Transition
  • From Manipulative to Repressive

ROADBLOCKS

  • Financial Security through Sound MoneyREMOVED
  • Reduced Personal Freedoms through a Crisis PENDING
  • Reduced Personal Security through a Constitutional CrisisFUTURE

DRIVERS

  • Globalization & Complexity
    • Fragile versus Robust Systems
    • Interconnectivity and Counter Party Dependency

  • The Productivity Paradox
    • Creative Destruction & Job Creation

Let's shift gears and consider what "greases the skids" in enabling this transition in our society to occur.

COLLECTIVISM

In The Road to Serfdom, F.A. Hayek showed how governments, supported by a collectivist mindset, always tend towards totalitarianism. Even the most libertarian government thus far created, the government of the United States, has slipped incrementally towards totalitarianism over the past two centuries. This is because it is an inherent trait of a government.

The degree of socialism in the United States increased substantially after the establishment of the Federal Reserve System (1913) and the measures taken during the Great Depression (1929-46) which it created. Ever since the early 1900's the United States has had a two-party system dominated by 'socialists'. The Republican Party has always advocated conservative socialism. The Democratic Party, which in the 19th century favored libertarianism, advocates social-democratic socialism. So long as people are divided by Left and Right, Democratic and Republican, the US is prone to being influenced by factions who transcend party politics and from behind the scenes could possible exert strong control over the United States. They could do this by maintaining power over public opinion and hence over the course of government. Steadily, the United States has been travelling down the road to totalitarianism, and many people have not noticed, possibly because they are only looking at the position on the Left-Right paradigm.

Upon further analysis, it is clear that Left, Right and Centre, are all forms of socialism. In particular, we may call them "social-democratic socialism" (the Left) and "conservative socialism" (the Right). They are both socialism because they both share the principle that the government should "run" and "mold" society, by using legal force and intervention to transfer property and personal wealth as part of the political scientists' process of 'redistribution of wealth'.

The differences are only in the particular ways the government should run society - the methods it should use, and who, exactly, should be the recipients of government wealth transfers and who should pay. In particular:

  • Social democrats tend to prefer heavy taxation, large wealth transfers to the poor, and nationalized industries, and oppose price controls, regulations and behavioral controls.
  • Conservatives tend to prefer lower taxation, a smaller welfare state, regulated (cartelized) industries, price controls, productand behavioral controls.

Nolan Charts: Personal Freedom versus Economic Freedom

The modern Republican Party is Center-Right on the Left-Right paradigm. As with the Democratic Party, this obscures the huge range of views Republicans hold on how powerful and how much control the State should be allowed. Their 2008 presidential nominee John McCain, like Barack Obama, strongly favored socialism, though with a Right-wing flavor. Barack Obama (blue circle) and John McCain (red circle) are positioned in the accompanying graphic. Thus, the two main candidates at the 2008 Presidential election represented a false choice - really no choice at all. One candidate, Ron Paul (yellow circle), stood in stark contrast to the candidates, favored by the mainstream media and political establishment. As would be expected, he was neutralized by the mainstream media outlets as a zealot with an unsound political view of America.

THE POLITICAL CONTINUUM

THE EMERGING ROADMAPTO STATISM

Let me now develop and explore the roadmap that outlines the path leading from Policy Failures and Monetary Malpractice, stemming from Unsound Money, to STATISM.

First we will build the outline for the basis of a roadmap on a number of observable continuums.

The more complex that issues become, the more collectivism will dominate and individual needs will be repressed. In turn governments will be forced to be more repressive to maintain control over increasing polarization and diverse views and opinions.

EVOLVING STAGES

When we arrange our various continuums we arrive at the representative grid model shown below.

We will quickly acknowledge it is not ideal, but it allows many concepts currently at play to be shown in relationship to others.

This grid is best described as the social forces at play within Globalization - Financial, Economic and Political.

DRIVER$ - VISIBLE & INVISIBLE

There are both visible and less visible forces at play that are forcing 'greasing' the skids in the movement towards Statism.

The roadmap integrates well into our roadmap from our THESIS 2011: Beggar-Thy-Neighbor / Currency Warsand 2012 Thesis: Financial Repressionpapers.

THE UNFOLDING OUTLOOK

ORWELL'S 1984 IS HAPPENING

We are one crisis away from a police state. All the powers are in place. Someone will flip the switch. Whether a Cyber Attack, escalating Currency War tensions or a 'terrorist' attack by indebted college youth, it is only a matter of time and circumstance.

Why A Banking Insider Says "It's Time To Be Very Worried"

Why A Banking Insider Says “It’s Time To Be Very Worried”

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Reporting from Santiago, Chile

Apparently the Latino version of Jusin Beiber is in town.

I have no idea who this kid is, but as I was walking into the W Hotel last night for a meeting, there were hundreds and hundreds of adoring prepubescent girls lining the metal cordon that had been set up outside of the building.

Then he walked outside, flanked by hotel security. He couldn’t have been more than fifteen, a bit pimply-faced and gangling at that awkward age. But the crowd couldn’t have cared less. The screaming persisted for ten minutes… just like those old black and white reels of teenage girls losing their minds at Beatles concerts fifty years ago.

Despite all the commotion outside, I met up with my colleague, and we dove immediately into a conversation about international banking and the state of the global financial system. As a senior executive of a large international bank, he is the ultimate insider. And I was floored by what he told me.

He openly acknowledged, for example, that banks are frauds. Most banks, particularly in the developed west, only hold a tiny fraction of their customer’s deposits in cash. The rest is gambled away on whatever the popular toxic security du jour happens to be.

This entire system rests upon a very thin layer of confidence, reinforced by the occasional taxpayer bailout. Yet it struck him as incredible that people still had confidence in banks, especially given that most of the investment products promoted to their customers are “crap”.

He told me how destructive central bankers are, creating untold amounts of inflation that only serves to make people poorer, while enabling governments to go deeper into debt.

Most of all, he told me that very few of the banking sector’s underlying deficiencies have been addressed since the 2008 meltdown. Many western banks are still insolvent, with the key difference that their governments are now also insolvent.

He believes that in the coming years, this confluence of risk will finally burst, most likely induced by the effects of the currency wars and competitive devaluation.

It was astounding, he said, that the G7 actually published a statement trying to soothe concerns about the global currency wars. “Whenever the government tells you to not worry about something,” he said, “it’s time to be very worried.”

Unfortunately, most people don’t know what’s happening. They don’t know that their government is insolvent, and that the only way they can persist is to go deeper into debt and devalue their currency. They don’t know that the money in their bank account isn’t safe. And they don’t have any idea how far their government will go to maintain the status quo.

It turns out that the screaming teenagers outside were a perfect metaphor. Happily ignorant. Distracted. And completely unaware. Most people simply aren’t going to see it coming.

And yet, from a big picture perspective, it all seems so obvious. National balance sheets across the developed west are deeply in the red. Bank balance sheets are precarious at best. Central bankers are flooding the world with paper money. And governments are trying everything– capital controls, competitive devaluation, pension nationalization– to keep the party going.

The writing is on the wall. And tTaking some basic steps now can make a world of difference. This includes purchasing real assets (precious metals, productive land), moving a portion of your savings to a well-capitalized banking system, and taking control over retirement funds.

These are steps that make sense no matter what; even if the worst never occurs, you won’t be worse off. And should the house of cards collapse, you’ll be one of the few people left standing.
