Heresy?

I want to hear from programmers/coders who are using "other" Operating Systems (OSX, *BSD). Is there a trade-off between your code execution speed and whatever made you choose a different OS in the first place?

I use OS X (Mac) for testing purposes, because I want everything to run as well on Safari (the standard Mac browser) as it does on a PC.

Using OS X is nice as a novelty, but I much prefer using Windows XP. (Hopefully soon I'll be using Vista.) The Mac hides a lot of the details I find important, like where your files are going, and it seems that you need to do more clicking to accomplish the same thing.

However, I'm sure a lot of my misgivings are simply because I've used PCs my entire career, so they are what I'm used to. Then again, maybe the Mac's just not as good!
