KALO35: Thing that hurts, to witness the Future & deny the Past

"Liberty, as well as honor, man ought to preserve at the hazard of his life, for without it life is insupportable"

Continuing as CA Secession & Spanish Crown Reprieve post was cut off:

@KALO , Perhaps the motion to put California under the Spanish King Felipe Juan Pablo Alfonso de Todos Los Santos de Borbon y Grecia, is a good one at that - might release the choke hold of the Libtards in CA

Your cause & effect understanding is most commendable historical Spanish history and commands respect-

And I would like to add a few contributing factoids about 1492;

La Reconquista of Spain started Santiago in the North West by Spanish knights led by King Ramiro Clavijos and aided by the legendary Saint James (matamoras) the Moorslayer in white armor & riding a white charger causing a great victory over a much larger Muslim army.

This was the crusader reprieve and it caught fire over riding Muslim resistance thus all lands before them going south hastened by the Great Knight El Cid of Valencia. Then by 1492 King Ferdinand of Aragon & Sicily marries a royal cousin the fair Queen Isabella of Aragon join forces to fight the remaining

 Muslims at their last strong hold, the well defended fortress storied city of Granada.

Legend has when the last Calif Rashid was leaving, looked back saw the red sky & flames, cried at the heart break knowing he could never return- whereas lore says his stoic Arab mother says "You cry like a woman, because you could not keep this crown jewel like a man" - ouch!  Muslims till now vow to return. A blind poet wrote a classical Arab poem, on par with medieval English Shakespeare, eulogizing the sorrow in the bittersweet "LOSS OF ANDALUSIA"

This major re-unification event coalesces Spain into a undivided force, after 700 years of foreign occupation starting the Golden Age of Spain. With this happening explorer Columbus would not have launched his ship the "Santa Maria' with the Crusader Cross on the main sail in attempt to circumvent the Turkish Muslim Corsairs sea raiders who were controlling, pillaging and enslaving all Christian shipping throughout the Mediterranean  Sea. Consequentially opening the golden doors to a New Age of Discovery & a World of Americas.

Thanks the interested and who's lips were not hurt in the long read :-)

"El Caballero de la triste figura"= Alonso Quijano, aka "El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha" This post caused me to stop what I was doing and go find my well worn 1969 paperback edition of "Novelas Ejemplares", a collection of short novels by the illustrious Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, published in Barcelona by Editorial Ramon Sopena, S.A. Spent the better part of an hour looking for it. Finally found it on the floor behind a piece of furniture in the bedroom. Now it goes back on the bedside stand for me to start reading through again for the umpteenth time!
