Valiant Allies: The Last Post version on A Violin -BEAUTIFUL :-)
Published:
As we approach our Memorial Weekend, I found this quite beautiful… Haunting.
A pleasant tribute to our loyal fallen allies– Enjoy!
THE LAST POST VERSION ON A VIOLIN.
Australia showed the world their fighting men were the equal of any in the
world and a fighting arm of the British Commonwealth (as did New Zealand ).
It really is a celebratory day rather than a day of mourning, but we
fiercely honour all those men and women who have given their lives to keep
us free in every theatre of war since we became a nation. Australian men
also fought in the Boer war and the Boxer Rebellion ( China ) but both
conflicts started before we became a Commonwealth Country on 1-1-1900 (they
went as individual volunteers, as we didn't have an Australian army).
So, there was a lot of "Last Posts" played yesterday and I thought you'd
like to hear a violin version - I haven't heard one before and it's very
moving.
I had never heard the Last post played on anything other than a cornet or a
trumpet. mouth organ This version, I find just as moving. Having had our
ANZAC Day commemorations and memorials, this young lady felt inspired to pay
her own tribute to the brave ANZAC's, including both of her Great
Grandfathers. Sadly, neither of them made it home. To those who served then
and to those who serve now, thank you.
Here is her rendition of The Last Post.
