April 17, 2007, 12:38 amDo Not Call List

http://www.donotcall.gov This works not only for cell phone numbers, but for all numbers you use. You can get on the list on line, or call the 888 number.

REMINDER....12 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls.

.....YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222.
***** You must call this number on the phone you are registering.....

It is the National DO NOT CALL list.
It will only take a minute of your time.
It blocks your number for five (5) years.
You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked.
You cannot call from a different phone number.

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS.
It take about 20 seconds.

hosni, just went to the website you listed and this is the very first thing at the top:

"Did you get an email claiming that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls because of a new cell phone number database? Those claims are not true. In fact, federal law prohibits telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phones. You may place your personal cell phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry, but there is generally no reason to do so. For more information, see the FTC's press release"

Here is the URL explaining in detail:

Thanks. For a long time I've been getting calls from Puerto Rico and Texas every couple of months, and when I answer it's all in Spanish. I don't always get the chance to check the number before I answer. I hang up right away and so far haven't seen any unusual charges on my bill.

I just found this on a consumer site, but it's not current.

A bogus e-mail has been raising cell phone users' anxiety level. The e-mail warns that cell phone directories are about to be provided to telemarketers, when in fact no such directory yet exists and it is illegal to make telemarketing calls to cell phones. And regulators are reminding cell phone users they can sign up for the Do Not Call Registry.
