We will Never Agree on Politics but Gas-Hell Yes!
Published:
Gas prices are steadily climbing. We are at $3.89 per gallon here I hope Bush is happy. I am beginning to see many people who are having to choose between buying gas and their groceries or medicines. This is a very sad time in America. Mass transit needs to beefed up everywhere. I haven't ever been able to understand why the US didn't work harder on mass transit back in the 80's and 90's. In other countries their mass transit gets more priority than ours does. Back in the 80's when I was stationed in Germany, we were paying more for gasoline than anything. They were selling it by the liter there. I got on one of those super fast trains in Korea and traveled 700 miles in about 4-5 hours. We need that here and don't tell me about AMTRAK. If the housing market rights itself and gas prices start falling, we may have a chance. In the mean time, I am just holding onto my pennies because they are worth more than 1 cent and am praying for a 2 cylinder car that will fold up into a suitcase with wheels.

Myself I set a daily mileage quota. In the last 6 days I have aloted myself 75 Miles of driving but I have managed to go only 51 miles. Since I am out less I also find that I am saving money by not making so many stupid impulse purchases. I intend to max out at 87.5 miles per week. Back in 2002 I usually did about 210 miles per week and I would make powerball trips. Maybe I am lucky though because I can leave my car sit and walk to the bus stop from here.
I also checked that "lowest gas in zipcode" link posted in another blog and found out we are paying 20 cents more per gallon here than they are in Beverly Hills 90210! Our unemployment rate is also higher than downstate (Detroit) too...go figure. It looks like it will be 4.39/9 here pretty quick. It has been 4.25 since last wednesday.
