I wish everyone here was not so one-sided, because I'd love to tell you how I feel about our representatives in Washington - both sides. I think it's so corrupt we could give every member of Congress and enema and bury them all in a shoebox. But we cannot have a reasonable conversation when facts are twisted and even articles aren't reported in full.
Not everything Obama does is wrong and not everything he says is right. He's cleaning up a mess he inherited from someone else who said "Oops, where are those Weapons of Mass Destruction?" Paulson, Bernanke got the bailout bill passed last year by telling us our economy was going to collapse and Bush pushed Congress to move fast to avert a recession. All of a sudden, after Jan 20 everyone began waking up?
The good Senator from Montana who has taken over $3 million from the insurance companies is trying to stuff their big fat bank accounts even more. Now that's something I care about!
By the way, I'm not a politician and I can swear to you this is true. My friend found a lump in her breast and went to her primary care physician. He said it was nothing. Over a year later she was diagnosed with Stage-4 cancer and she had a mastectomy. The insurance company stopped paying and said they wouldn't cover her surgery and chemotherapy, because she had a pre-existing condition because of the stage of the cancer. She had gone to one of the doctors on her health plan and he misdiagnosed her. How do they know when she actually got cancer? I'm a little confused about her story, since group plans in FL cannot call a condition pre-existing after you're insurance for 12 months AFAIK. Was my friend lying to me? Maybe she just got the dates mixed up. Should I call her a liar?
In summary, Obama did not lie about the insurance company at all. They did pull the man's coverage when he had cancer. The family did have to go through hell. The only thing he got wrong was that there's no actual proof he died because of delayed treatment. Guess a "lie" is how you want to look at it. Stress can cause someone to die earlier. Anyone here who has gone through a serious illness and has studied the effects of emotions on your immune system knows that's true. Read Dr. Bernie Segal's books sometimes.
Do I trust Obama 100%? No, he's a politican. But please get it right.
I agree, and I'm just as sick of all the noise and the pointless rhetoric as you are. There's really no advantage to choosing up sides anymore. We've been screwed over too many times by both parties while they put their own interests ahead of those of the nation. In my opinion, the two-party system has run its course, and now we're sliding headlong down a huge pile of crap with no means of slowing our descent. Politicians lie - it's just what they do, regardless of party affiliation. The problem is, we've come to accept that as an integral and inevitable part of the political process. As a result, people loyal to either party can't wait to point their fingers at the other when someone opens his or her mouth in front of a camera. They're so busy trying to prove they're right and the others are wrong that they don't realize or understand that we're all passengers on the same sinking ship, and that any lifeboats are strictly reserved for those who caused the wreck.
Much sooner than we'd like to believe, history will judge American government as a system which was doomed to fail from the point of its inception. Given the way things have turned out, I'm afraid I'd be inclined to agree.
