Here are two alternatives to what's implied by the above cartoon:

1) Raise our children in ways that the ones who join our police forces and military would never support government policies requiring them to unjustly turn their weapons on their own countrymen.

2) Elect Congressional Representatives, Senators, Governors, and Presidents who will not adopt nor support policies that enrage people in other parts of the world or who can be bought by multinational corporations that seek to extract resources at unfairly low prices from these same people.

If we live our lives with these two goals in mind, I believe our grandchildren will be much less likely to die from gun violence than us, both at home, and far away, fighting in unnecessary, and often, unjust, wars.
