The Ohio woman who falsely claimed she lost a winning $162 million Mega Millions ticket last year says she's taking a new career path as a boxer.

Forty-one-year-old Elecia Battle says she's been training for seven months and will make her debut in January under the ring name "Mega Battle."

Battle grabbed national headlines saying she lost the winning ticket for the December 30th, 2003, drawing when she dropped her purse outside a South Euclid convenience store.

The night the story broke, people with flashlights braved frigid temperatures looking for the ticket in the store parking lot and nearby bushes all wanted to claim the jackpot for themselves.

After the real winner came forward, Battle tearfully apologized, saying she wanted to win the money for her kids and family.

She says she has since struggled to find work.

How did she think she would get away with that claim?

Didn't she think the real winners would show up dventually?

It is kinda funny.  I remember when that happened.  If u were the winner and someone did that, would u give them money?  I think I would have given her a little money for her and her family.  I figured I could since she did go through great lengths to report that she lost the winning ticket.

I wouldnt give her a dime. And by giving her even a little money would signal that maybe you did recover her lost ticket and feel guilty/obligated to give her something back.

LOL, I guess I would've been searching too.

As far as the rules go, I believe it's losers weepers, finders keepers. She must've not known that.

Hmm, boxing... only in America

Why is this lottery news? The only reason she went public with this is to gain publicity - and this thread only goes to advance it. Sorry, Todd.

Her story is unfortunately tied to the Lottery. We may not care to hear news about her, but thus is the wacky world of the Lottery

Boxing.....well I guess its a career like anything else.....a "has been" fighting a "never was". The prize should be for a free ticket.....
