NJ couple wins $2.2M Pick 6 Lotto jackpot
New Jersey Lottery: NJ couple wins $2.2M Pick 6 Lotto jackpot
Winning ticket bought at deli in Bergen Point A Bayonne couple has claimed the winning ticket in the Dec. 2 New Jersey Pick 6 Lotto jackpot drawing, which carried a jackpot of nearly $2.2 million. Acting New Jersey Lottery Executive Director William T. Jourdain said that Zoltan and Elizabeth Lamos of Bayonne bought the winning ticket at the Bergen Park Deli, 27 West First St. in Bayonne. The couple will receive more than $1.6 million in a lump-sum payment after taxes are collected. Lottery spokesman Everitt Merrill said that the couple had also the option of taking the jackpot prize as an annuity at 4.9 percent a year in interest. The 26 annual installments would yield a total of $3.75 million, but the Lamoses opted to take the money up front, Merrill said. The numbers on the winning ticket were: 04, 13, 21, 26, 40 and 44. An employee at the Bergen Park Deli said that Elizabeth Lamos came to the store last week to redeem her ticket and claim the prize. The employee said that Lamos told him that the couple preferred no publicity on their good fortune.

I'm sure the winners are convinced Pick-6 is a MUCH BETTER game than NY Lotto 6/59!

Well, I think NJ Pick 6 is a better game than NY Lotto, but I don't think ANYONE will be upset set if they win either game. The upset people are the ones who DON'T win.

And while that may be nice, the Pick-6 Lotto jackpot is $3.25 million ($1.625 million cash) right now.

Yea NY Lotto's lower payouts suck, but there are positive sides to the game also. Right now it's head to head with Mega Millions at $40 million, and NY Lotto offers two games for a buck. If your focus is on the "jackpot" NY Lotto is a decent game. It doesn't look like they'll be upgrading the lower prizes. They told me via email Take 5 is a great game for lower prizes = meaning NY lotto is what it is, so go play Take 5 lol. I expected that response. It's all marketing strategy on their part. If all their games had good payouts from jackpot to lowest prize, some would favor certain games even more than they do now. I think Mega Millions is well-balanced... just wish it was two games for a buck

Anybody who believes NY Lotto 6/59 is a good value because you get two games for $1 should get their head examined.

It may not exactly be a good value, since it only increases your chances of winning by one. But that is a personal issue for each person to figure out. However you cannot argue with the jackpot when it reaches a very decent amount of say $40 million. NY Lotto's odds on a $1 play is 1:22,528,737.00. Mega Millions odds on a $1 play is 1: 135,145,920. For the times when Mega Millions' jackpot is lower than NY Lotto's, that is when NY Lotto is an even better game to play.
If you're simply looking to win the lower tier prizes, there are specific games geared for those amounts.

The only reason I have not called for an outright boycott of NY Lotto is the cash option (and I disagree with having to choose when you play.) I would support a boycott if others agreed to it.

Yes, the annuity system is their smoke-screen to advertise a higher jackpot. Shame on them. At least we do have the cash option
