Norm Lingle of Pierre has been named the new director of South Dakota Lottery.
Lingle takes over the post on Jan. 18 at a salary of $58,000. He replaces Clint Harris, who resigned last fall to become director of the Minnesota Lottery.
Lingle has been manager of the Community Development Block Grant program in the Governor's Office of Economic Development since 1989. He also serves on the Pierre School Board.
He said one of his main goals is to keep the lottery running in an "efficient, fair and fun manner."
One of his biggest challenges is to learn more about the lottery, its staff and products, said Lingle.
