Two Tennessee Lottery players were over half a million dollars richer this morning.

Two tickets, worth $589,973 each, matched all five of the Tennessee Lotto 5 numbers in last night’s drawing.

They were purchased in Maynardville, 25 miles North of Knoxville, and Johnson City.

This Lotto 5 jackpot run, which began rolling on April 8, set Tennessee Lottery records as the highest Lotto 5 jackpot in the short history of the game. The previous jackpot record of $765,923 was won on Jan. 31, 2005 by a single player. The jackpot for the multi-state game of Powerball continues to climb and is estimated at $96 million for Wednesday night’s drawing.

In addition to the two jackpot winners in Monday night’s Lotto 5 drawing, 124 players matched four numbers to win $203 each, while 4,053 players matched three numbers correctly and will collect $10 each.

Lotto 5 drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights at 10:34 p.m. CST (11:34 p.m. EST); Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. CST (10:59 p.m. EST). All Tennessee lottery results can be found on the Lottery Post Tennessee Lottery Results page.

The Tennessee Lottery began selling its first tickets on Jan. 20, 2004. Proceeds as of March 31, 2005 have resulted in transfers to the Lottery for Education Account of more than $291 million, in addition to more than $2 million for after-school programs. All Lottery profits go to pay for specific education programs in Tennessee, which initially include college scholarships.

It's a shame that Niether lottomike, nor I won this.  Oh well.  Lottomike and I will have our turn. (and any TN player on here for that matter).  I have a $50,000 jumbo bucks ticket or a win for life ticket with my name on it.  Sorry cash only but Win for Life is one of my favorites and I'm young enough to like annuity.  (read the age page to see how old I am)

How are you going to win if you don't play?

These "Win For Life" games were made to appeal to younger players, who are obviously a good target for lotteries considering their income.

Every time the lotto 5 gets to be high; it's always won in places nobody knows about. One day soon it will be mine

A lot of people from Nashville and middle TN for that matter win on Scratch tickets.  Around my county there has only been 3 top prizes paid out for Scratch offs.  Hot Money $5,000 Happy Mother's Day $35,000, and Volunteer Millionaire $1000.  Oh yeah the Powerball was also won here too.

How are you going to win if you don't play?
