Tennessee Lottery: Tennessee Man Wins $314,693 Lotto 5 Jackpot A Greeneville, Tennessee man won the top prize of $314,693 in Friday night’s Tennessee Lottery Lotto 5 drawing.
Virgilio Rivera on Monday morning claimed his winnings, less 25 percent that was withheld to pay federal taxes, according to Gretchen Vanhorn, a Nashville-based spokesman for the Tennessee Lottery
Vanhorn said Rivera declined to have a publicity photo taken and asked that his address not be made public.
However, Vanhorn said she was able to say that Rivera is a resident of Greeneville and that he purchased the winning Lotto 5 ticket at the Quick Stop Market No. 17 at 705 East Church St.
Vanhorn said Rivera’s winning ticket was the only one sold that matched all five of the numbers drawn during the May 20 Lotto 5 drawing in Nashville.
The winning numbers, she said, were 14, 19, 21, 24 and 38. Vanhorn also said the odds of matching all five numbers in a Lotto 5 drawing are “one in 575,757.”
She said Lotto 5 drawings are conducted at 10:34 p.m. Central Daylight Time each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
While impressive, Rivera’s Lotto 5 winnings were not a record for this community. Vanhorn said a $765,000 prize was awarded to a Greene County resident in a Jan. 31 drawing.
