Pick 4 lottery player wins $500,000
Maryland Lottery: Pick 4 lottery player wins $500,000
A Silver Spring, Maryland, man won $500,000 in Wednesday evening's Maryland Pick 4 drawing playing twenty tickets. This is the second big win for him. In 1997, he won $250,000 playing Pick 4. "I told the Lottery official back then that I would be back and here I am," he said. The winner also hit midday that same day for $3000. The office manager of a contracting company was home sick on Wednesday and called the store to put in his evening numbers. The retailer told him he hit midday, so the lucky player decided to go down to the store to claim his winnings and put in his Pick 4 number, 4762. That night as he watched the drawing, he saw his numbers come out one by one. "I couldn't believe what I was seeing," said the winner. "I could barely watch, as the final number popped up." He has yet to tell his wife or son about the big win. "I have something very special planned for my wife, I'll tell her then," he grinned. The winner, originally from Brooklyn, New York, said he plans to move to Florida next year. He said he will also invest and pay some bills. The winning ticket was purchased at Bel Pre Beer and Wine located at 2251 Bel Pre Road in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Oh Four, I thought this lucky man was you!!!!!
P.s. You're quite right, Maryland Lottery officials must not know what the payout is for a $1.00 ticket.

He spent $100 on the same number. That is kinda step but I guess well worth it hey. I have been trying to do the same thing myself but with only $10. And I am playing it two way. That will be over $26,000 if it comes up straigh and $2400 if it comes up box. Hopefully my numbers will come up like his did soon. haha Brad

P.s. You're quite right, Maryland Lottery officials must not know what the payout is for a $1.00 ticket. I wish I should be so lucky if my p4 loser number comes out i'll get 25 g's. I kills me that some people have that kind of luck. Once in a while when my pick looks like it might come in i'll put 10 or 20 on it. Got it boxed a lot of times but it has never hit straight. I wonder if this guy is a poster maybe he'll let us in on his method. I cant zero in on a pick 4 straight to save my butt. CashOnly no way to avoid the taxes on his win anything over 600 bucks is taxed.

$100 straight on a pick 4 seems really risky. I doubt this is the first time this person played that way. Hopefully he won't keep it up as a daily habit to try to repeat his winning.

I watched a whale in Tunica at the Grand one night in 1998, the pit boss brought him a tray worth $250,000.00 and he was at a table by himself playing $17,500 a shot on Roulete, after losing 4 spins in a row he lost $70,000, then he hit the red 25 twice in a row and walked out with $1,242,500.00, I guess ya just have to pick a set of numbers and stick with em, never play if you can't afford to lose. Gut hunches are good if you don't lie to yourself, if you do you can never trust yourself!.

It didn't say how he chose the numbers, if he used any algorithms or just favorite numbers. REMEBER, HE WON MIDDAY AND ALSO ANOTHER TIME BEFORE. For every person that wins big like that there are thousands more who spend $100/day and only win back a fraction of it over a long time. With algorithms you have a better shot. The "20 tickets" must have each had the number several times on it. I often see discarded tickets like that, the same # several tickets. Usually done to avoid paying tax if it comes out boxed. One time I played a # for 1.00 STR and asked if I really meant to do that. Also unfortunately in nj if someone played that many on a Pick 4 and it came out the per-ticket payout would be minuscule because it's pari-mutuel instead of fixed like MD, PA, NY.

There are some players that will play only one number for a large amount every drawing straight until it hits. Right now in Delaware someone is playing for the night draw only about $70 straight on 1947. Being a small state , they have a low cutoff of $350,000. Every night this number is cutoff, so I know that it is almost certainly one person that is doing it, though there are bound to be a few others that play that number also. This person just buys up all that he can around 5:30 every night. I assume that he must play a few dollars for the day draw to perhaps just get the money he's spending back in case it comes out during the day. I don't care for straight 4 digit play myself because of the taxes. I prefer to find a number to play boxed and play multiple tickets. I got lucky last week hitting 1195 for 6 one dollar boxed tickets for $2496 and two days later hitting 5859 for 4 one dollar boxed tickets for $1664. No taxes to pay there.

Since he hit $3,000 on Midday the same day, it is obvious $100.00 was not alot to gamble to him.
