N.C. Lottery to launch Christmas-themed games
North Carolina Lottery: N.C. Lottery to launch Christmas-themed games
The North Carolina Lottery is putting another game into play Tuesday. The first $10 instant ticket game in North Carolina is reaching stores. The new game is part of a trend in the lottery industry in that it's a holiday-themed scratch-off game that officials hope will boost sales. Lottery director Tom Shaheen says more games at $10 or above are expected, including the possibility of a $20 instant ticket game, which Shaheen says may be attractive to people who don't always play the lottery. The new $10 game is called Merry Money. It features a colorful Christmas tree with gift boxes below. Six tickets out of more than two million for sale will be worth the top prize of $200,000. Another game in stores Tuesday is called Carolina Greetings and it costs $2 to play. Carolina Greetings features four different game designs, which resemble Christmas gift tags. In the state's new Pick 5 game, there's been a winner after just three days, although state officials say the player hasn't yet come forward. Merry Money

I don't know, but I will tell you this: I will not play a $10 scratch ticket with such a low number and amount of of grand prizes. I do my homework... Ga has several $10 tickets with prizes ranging from $ 250,000 ( 60 of these jackpots are available) to others offering $500,000, $750,000, One Million and even 2.5 Million as incentive. SC has decent ones as well. Some are One Million Dollar JP's and they are lump sum... Are you listening, NC ?

Christmas tickets always sell fast because people will buy them because of being the holiday spirit and to give as gifts. I have noticed that the Christmas tickets seem to have the worst prizes of all. However, last year, PA sold one for $20 with several $1M prizes and other high dollar prizes, so that was the exception. DE sold $1 tickets with something like 50 top prizes of $250. That's laughable.

You can actually buy 5 of those $10 Christmas tickets and come away with zero.
I mean zero. I can't believe they think that it will bring the upper middle class to play the lottery enticing with $10 scratch offs. Where did they get that idea. They really do hate the people who play pick 3. They thought the same for the Powerball but it let them down. They should appeal to the people who like to play the lottery and treat them right. I'm voting against everybody who voted against the NC Lottery.

Tenaj, Wonder what the jackpot will be for the NC $20 scratcher ? The $10 Jingle Jumbo Bucks here in Ga has a top prize of $ 750K and we even have a $5 holiday game that pays $225K. I travel thru NC from time to time, but I buy my tickets( including Powerball ) in SC.... ..DD

I just saw Oregon's Lottery Scratch-it Holiday tickets. The $10 is called "The 12 dogs of Christmas Tripler". It has 10-$10,000 top prizes and the odds of winning a single prize is 1-2.12. I would have though that the ticket would have been at least $100,000.-weshar75

I'm voting against everybody who voted against the NC Lottery. LOL...I was thinking the same thing, Tenaj. And I am a Republican of all...lol. I am disgusted with the NC state government right now, so in my last official election for now as a NC resident, I am going to throw some wrenches in there. I won't vote in this state again for another 10 years or so (whenever the last kid leaves the nest), since I am in Ft. Mill now. Hopefully by the time I move back to the QC, things will be better in NC...lottery and otherwise. The North Carolina Education Lottery - so much a joke that here are their mascots:
