Winning Powerball lottery ticket sold in Wisconsin

Powerball Powerball: Winning Powerball lottery ticket sold in Wisconsin

The winning Powerball ticket in the weekend drawing was purchased in Stoughton, Wisconsin, lottery officials said Sunday.

It said the ticket worth $40.7 million was bought at the Food Pantry/Diamond Jubilee there.

The regular numbers drawn Saturday night were 2, 5, 16, 36 and 40 and the Powerball was 36.

The holder of the winning ticket has 180 days to claim the prize, lottery spokesman Andrew Bohage said. Once it is claimed, the winner has another 60 days to decide whether to take it in 30 annual installments or in a single lump sum of $19.3 million, he added.

It is Wisconsin's 13th Powerball jackpot since the multistate game began 15 years ago. The most recent winners were a group of 100 workers at Sargento Foods who won a $208.6 million jackpot with a ticket purchased in Fond du Lac last August.

The Powerball prize now goes to an estimated $15 million for Wednesday's drawing.

That's almost one winner every year. Hmmm.    Skeptical

OldSchoolPa: You are welcome to Wisconsin to play the PowerBall as I come down to the state line and sometimes to Gurnee to buy the Mega Millions tickets. I wish you Luck on your tickets being the winning one.

They said that Wisconsin has had 13 Jackpot winners that is not correct. If you go to the PowerBall home site and bring up the numbers since Powerball began Wisconsin has only had 7 JackPot winners that includes the recent one. This is since it's inception and when it was changed and new states have been added, just thought I'd clear that up.

Congratulations to Wisconsin for winning the PB jackpot. It was so strange that the white ball and the powerball are the same number that a winning jackpot ticket was sold.
