Lottery officials aren't sure who the lucky winner is yet. Donald J. Cataldi, a sales manager for the Rhode Island Lottery, confirmed that the winning ticket had been sold at Warren Mart on Child Street. "Someone's going to have one heck of a Christmas," Mr. Cataldi said. "Rhode Island players have been lucky lately. We had a million dollar player a month ago." Tony Elhajj, the store's owner for the past two and a half years, said his store has had a bit of a lucky streak lately, and expects business to pick up as a result. Just last week, they sold a $200,000 Powerball ticket. "Good luck to the guy who won it," Mr. Elhajj said.
The winning ticket matched all six numbers drawn, which were: 8, 23, 32, 37 and 39. The Powerball number was 38. A lottery spokeswoman says the winner can collect $151.9 million in installments over 29 years or receive just over $75 million in a lump sum. Tickets that match the first five numbers but miss the Powerball win $200,000 each. There were five of those, including one in Rhode Island. Lottery Post Staff We'd love to see your comments here! The person who won this is kin to me! It's my third uncle's cousins brother's son, brother-in-law's, sister's husbund's, nephew. I've seen a picture of him. I hope he remembers me from the cookout/ baby shower/ wedding at the moonshine festival. Holy smoke i'm so happy. Please Pray For Our Troops And Their Families.

I thought the jackpot was for 155 million? What happened? I'm not sure, but according to the official Powerball site, the total was $151.9 million. I've never seen MUSL overestimate like that before.

congrats to the winners.......... I just found out that Powerball might be making a matrix change pretty soon if its approved by all the participating states. The odds are about to get higher than they are now. Well thats what I read on the South Carolina lottery website in the minutes from the Oct. 4, 2007 meeting. According to the minutes the 2nd prize amount would change also. They want to compete more with the Mega Millions game and produce higher jackpots. A matrix change will also guarantee a $1million match 5 prize for every winner who matches 5 numbers and who also purchases the Power Play option. That ROCKS!!!!!! I can't wait to see the new game. I like it. Now if Mega Millions would update their game and give all the states Megaplier then maybe they could keep up with Powerball. waiting patiently for my jackpot

i have been married for 31 years to the man of my dreams Sounds as if you hit the jackpot 31 years ago! Good luck to you too. I just found out that Powerball might be making a matrix change pretty soon I don't know why anyone would want the odds for PB or MM to be any higher, but to each his own, I suppose. I mean, $150 million is more than anyone needs unless the winner is a large pool, which it has been on occasion.
