Georgia Lottery: Georgia man wins $1.2M with free lottery ticket

A free Fantasy 5 lottery ticket has translated into a $1,298,332 jackpot win for a Hoschton, Georgia man.
Robert Patterson Jr. won the prize with a free ticket that matched all five winning numbers in the July 17 Fantasy 5 drawing.
"It was on a free ticket, and I think that's probably important for everyone to know," said Patterson, who won the ticket by matching two of five numbers in a previous Fantasy 5 drawing.
Patterson checked the game results online and was excited to discover his win.
"I just looked at it and said, 'I'm going to travel,' " he explained. "I don't know where yet but probably Europe and some islands. It is exciting, the possibilities."
Winning numbers for the July 17 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 5-9-13-33-34. Patterson received his free Quik Pik ticket at CITGO Food & Gas, 4210 Highway 53, Hoschton.
According to Patterson, a semi-retired racecar builder, one of the reasons he enjoys supporting the Georgia Lottery is because of the educational programs it funds.
"I think it's a great thing," he said.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 jackpot tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning jackpot ticket is sold, the retailers selling the jackpot winning tickets will share the bonus. CITGO will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $16,000.
