Gov. says no way; doesn't like the lottery
Maine lawmakers say they want to expand the state lottery by adding a video version of keno and joining the multistate Mega Millions, but Gov. John Baldacci is against the idea.
Members of the legislature's Legal and Veteran Affairs Committee say Maine could reap $1.5 million annually by joining more than 30 other states in Mega Millions. They said Thursday that keno — an electronic hybrid of the lottery and bingo — could generate $2.3 million for the general fund over two years.
No dice, says Baldacci. The Bangor Daily News reports that Baldacci spokesman is no fan of the lottery and doesn't want to see it expanded.

They dont want to see it expand until they need more revenue. I wouldnt mind keno here though.

I really agree with the gov,the lottery in this state has enough games going and very few winners.The only games I play are powerball and hot lotto.I know that its not drawn by this lottery.I would like to see Mega millions come in.What is really sad to say is I won more money in the powerball in the past three months,then the pick three in Maine in the past ten years.

The legislature is for it and the Vets group is for it. Undoubtedly most of the people would be for it. It's just your idiot governor imposing his will on everybody else.

If he's against it and doesn't like the lottery it sounds like he might be a religious person so that could be the reason a lot of religious folks dislike gambling of any kind especially lottery. Ω

This lottery in Maine is all about...How much are we gonna make not what were gonna payout..Look at your pick three game they repeated five sets of numbers this year all ready..Show me a state thats done that all ready..I don,t think your gonna find one..This is the worst lottery out..Its all about them..They can,t even draw there own numbers..New Hampshire does the draw...The lottery here in Maine has change allot since then..Look at the sales in the numbers game its been dropping..There,s a reason for that,nobody winning..They just want to nickel and dime you to death..

This lottery in Maine is so rigged..When you can,t get people to hit a pick three its bad..The only games I play is anything that New Hampshire does not draw like Powerball..Hot Lotto..I have friends who play the pick three and never win...Why?..They are gonna pay big bucks..I believe they know exactly what numbers are being played and what their gonna pay out...They avoid these numbers..When I see four sets of numbers that never come out ..but yet they come out in other states..that is telling me something..They can,t even answer question you asked them..This lottery has not been right for years now...your not even allowed to see the draw in the same room..They told me we have to see it behind a window..WHY?..What do they have to hide?...All I ever hear in Maine is I missed it by one number or Gee my number came out last night..but I didn,t play it..
