The drawing date for Arkansas' first-ever raffle is anticipated to be September 9, 2010, or after all tickets have been sold, whichever occurs last. A limit of 500,000 tickets will be made available for the raffle. Tickets cost $10 each. Raffle tickets cannot be canceled once they are purchased. Arkansas Million Dollar Raffle tickets are sold starting with number 000001, and the last ticket sold will be numbered 500000. Players cannot choose their own numbers, as the ticket numbers are dispensed in the order they are sold statewide. In addition to the two grand prizes of $1 million each, there will be 540 prizes of $1,000 each, and 600 prizes of $100 each. The odds of winning $1 million are 1 in 250,000. Players have 1 in 926 odds of winning a $1,000 prize, and 1 in 833 odds of winning a $100 prize. To win a drawing prize, the 6-digit raffle number on the ticket must be identical to one of the 6-digit raffle numbers drawn — the digits on the ticket must appear in the same order as the numbers drawn. Players are advised to sign their tickets as soon as they are purchased, and they must keep their Arkansas Million Dollar Raffle ticket until the drawing. The winning numbers for the drawing will be published on Lottery Post's Arkansas Lottery Results page (www.lotterypost.com/results/ar) soon after the drawing. Prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the draw date. Instant-win bonus prizes The Arkansas Lottery is offering additional bonus prizes to players who purchase raffle tickets. Every 25th Raffle ticket generated statewide will produce a $20 instant-win cash prize. The $20 prize can be claimed immediately at the retailer. Players should treat an instant-win bonus prize ticket in the exact same manner as a ticket that does not win an instant prize: they should keep the raffle ticket that generated the instant win for the drawing. A total of 20,000 instant-win $20 prizes will be awarded. The odds of winning an instant-win prize are 1 in 25. (Click to display in gallery)

Tickets are only $10 each - a good deal for a 1-in-250,000 chance at $1M.

That's kind of the opposite of the purpose of raffles. They are designed to give players a much better chance of winning a big prize. For smaller prizes, scratch-offs or traditional lotto games are for already out there, and have tons of small prizes.

I just noticed Arkansas recently started a pick four game. They are moving pretty swiftly with new games. I'm pretty sure they will release a PICK 5 game by the end of the year at this rate. How are you going to win if you don't play?

I got half a mind (yes, literally) to make a run over there and get me a couple of them dadgum things. Maybe I'll stop and check on that real estate I bought out there years ago. It was called Whitewater and I paid cash to the lawyer lady but she kept telling me she couldn't find the paperwork. I haven't talked to her in years. I heard she went into politics. Oh well. Might as well stop in Memphis too and go to Graceland. I can't think of any other reason to stop in Memphis except maybe for barbecue, I heard it's good. Maybe I'll try that too. . The water ain't never gonna run clear til you get the pigs out of the creek.

I'm not a transplant, but in my travels to Memphis, that has been hands-down my favorite place to go. They have the world's best ribs, for sure! The music and singing is good enough to arrive early for a good seat. When I've been there, the set starts at 7:00 PM, so don't arrive late!

Good for Arkansas players. I wish CT would do a raffle every other state in New England/Northeast has done one. I know because I have dropped money on a raffle in everyone of those states(except Maine). I hate to think CT is behind Arkansas in anyway.
