Florida man wins lottery, must visit mom

Florida LotteryFlorida Lottery: Florida man wins lottery, must visit mom

MIAMI, Fla. — When Johan Fourie's mom asked him on Sunday when he was going to come visit her, his answer was as funny as it was seemingly unrealistic.

"When I win the lottery," Fourie said.

Moments later, Fourie checked his Florida Lotto ticket and saw that he had actually won the $4 million jackpot.

"I had no idea I would be calling her back later that day to tell her I was on my way!" he said Wednesday.

For 12 years, the 62-year-old Hollywood man had played the same numbers — 9, 10, 23, 24, 37, 38 — religiously every week. His diligence finally paid off in a big way.

Fourie chose to take the lump sum payment of more than $2.3 million.

Maybe mom will get a really nice dinner with her visit.

I hope he takes good care of his mother now.

He's got no excuse not to now.

Well, bless his heart.  Isn't this a heart warming story?  Also, it's ironic that he would even make a statement as he did, "when I win the lottery, " and bingo...he wins! I guess there's hope for us all.

See Ya!-- Bye, bye!  When you win, may you glow as brightly as theSun Smiley

Congratulations to Mr. Fourie on the real good win. I wonder, did he claim it as an annuity or the lesser lump-sum payment option?

The article read as if it has been years since his last visit to his mother, and as if their relationship was strained.

                  No Pity!

That's awesome that he won with the numbers he always plays. Nice.

                            Because of her accident.

She fell into an upholstery machine.

                            But she's all recovered now.
