A wire transfer of at least $255,750,000 if there is a single winner in Pennsylvania! And no State or Local Taxes! If you pay the full 35% Federal Tax, you would pay $119,350,000! If you don't think that is enough Federal Tax, then you are either childish or a Socialist .......... 1 Ticket, 1 Person .............. I want to go "Green" $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Willing to bet that the current administration as well as the OWS demonstrators wouldn't be content unless the winner was taxed at 99% Their logic is that you should be just fine with 2.5 million.

Wow, I really don't think anyone can say with absolute certainty. Perhaps use some of the old strategies to improve your odds. - "Keep your mouth shut!" Probably not a good idea to tell anyone in the circle of family and friends, use extreme discression before telling the spouse.
- Claim by Revocable Living Trust if possible. The Trustee's name will be printed (Your Trust Attorney) but if they are good at what they do, they should be a nice brick wall for your identity. Cut them a fat Christmas bonus if you continue to remain anonymous by year's end.
- Don't be too hasty to quit the day job. If you want to, do it quietly by submitting at least a 2 weeks notice or whatever company policy requires.
- Don't immediately run out and buy an Aston Martin or a multi-million dollar mansion on the golf course. Start up your own business invest in some stocks and then gradually ease your way into luxury.
Good advice! but unfortunately the temptation may be too hard for most. It wouldn't surprise me to hear about the winner showing up the following Monday to claim their prize...with entourage in tow.

I'd like to hear the results from the peeps that spent 500/1000 on this. Curious what the return rate was and if they'll do it again. It could roll again. Next nums could be 1 2 3 4 5--6. and make your last check bounce.

Willing to bet that the current administration as well as the OWS demonstrators wouldn't be content unless the winner was taxed at 99% Their logic is that you should be just fine with 2.5 million. One definition of insanity is that you keep trying the same thing expecting different results .......... FDR tried the 90% tax rate as well as confiscating reserve capital ("hoarded cash") in 1937 and we were rewarded with a depression within a depression! (please, if anyone doesn't believe me, disprove this on your own)! The estimated $85,250,000 25% witholding is plenty for the Crooks in the Federal Government as far as I am concerned. I will mitigate the remaining 10% tax obligation! dpoly1 - Playing the lottery to save the jobs of those that build, transport, sell & maintain luxury items! - Eschew Poverty ........... If I lived in New Joisey and paid the 10.8 state income tax on top of the feds cut, you could subtract another $36.83 million.......ouch.... Jackpots...Just Average Citizens Keeping Possibilities Open Towards Security

That sucks pick. Down here in Texas it has become more common place for our lottery winners to claim by Trust, especially after that one gentleman from the Houston area got harrassed relentlessly by charities and other folks after his win. Sadly he could not deal with the pressure from that and other problems and ended up commiting suicide some years back. Very sad! Saw a show on TLC where a big jackpot winner was continually being harassed with notes all over his truck and endless amounts of mail then there's Brad Duke who had people camping out on his front yard To keep your sanity at least relocate to an ultra private neighborhood (we have a few here in the Orlando area) where you can blend in with your neighbors.

Do we really have to bring politics into this? No point in starting an argument.

Good thing I get paid on Friday, so I can spend a little more here. When I went to two stores to buy tickets yesterday, there were no lines. I'll be surprised if it's not the complete opposite on Friday. I live in southern Indiana and I've never seen a line of ppl getting lottery tickets.. but.. i cant imagine what this jackpot is gonna do!!! I wish I may, I wish I might... Win the Powerball jackpot Saturday night!!!

Great, another 30 pages of "When I win Friday" posts on the way. So for all of those who claimed that they were going to win last night you actually meant "Friday" right? I would not mind winning the $12 million jackpot after the record breaking one, then I would be completely invisible. I hope I just win one of them. Ur exactly right sirbrad... i had meant to say Friday!! sorry for the typo ;-) and i as well would gladly accept any of the jackpots... its just fun to get in on the hype!!! I wish I may, I wish I might... Win the Powerball jackpot Saturday night!!!
