Wow, this so amazing...She's so lucky... that $10 million is really a big amount.  Her story will definitely inspire more people to play lottery.

Why is everybody HERE so concerned with her marital status? Next time they show a picture of a winner with her husband should we all cry out "Her marital status has zero relevance with the story!!!" How many times have we seen pictures here with the caption "Winner with wife" "winner with boy/girlfriend" "winner with sons" "winner with coworkers" etc. and nobody gives a second thought about it. I thought the author did a fine job explaining what the relationship between the two was, and had to include the sidebar b/c Florida law doesn't recognize if they were to be married. Let's focus on the main part of the story here, SHE WON 10 FREAKING MILLION DOLLARS!!! Kudos to the both of them, I wish them many many years of happiness with the winnings. :)

FWIW, i'm from MN and there's a measure on the November ballot about same-sex unions. Should be interesting.

in a very roundabout way yes, should I have given you credit for stating that already?

I'm hoping for my own happy story when I play Powerball tomorrow. I have a 4-day wknd starting Friday, so having an extra $150M in my pocket would be a great way to kick it off! :) Good luck to everybody!!

I think it was funny that they included "wife" in the story. If a girl is going to show up for a photo with another girl in tow, people are going to want to know that she (the one in tow) is an unrecognized "wife".

Well I think they were just trying to get in the fact that she was married...have you all noticed they always mention whether or not the winner is married single or whatever and if they have children. I don't think they said it because she is a lesbian...they would have mentioned her spouse if she was married to a man as well

Go Big money! I think the article was very awkwardly written but perhaps they wanted to indicate since she won the money in Florida, her wife would have no spousal claims on the money.

No reason for the lottery to have put Cary Tullis into the picture.  Only official winner(s) on the claim form should be required to lose their anonymity by holding lottery headquarters promo checks for required photos and videos. Also, why would someone who doesn't get any % of the jackpot monies directly, step into press conferences?

Would be even better if NO name release or identity photos had to be taken of any lottery jackpot winners!

                  What?

Actually in FL there is NO requirement for a picture.  Only name, city, game played, and amount won.  Thats why when I win big $$$ I will rent a place out of the area I actually live in, change my address on my DL, claim my prize and wala...wasn't me, I don't live in "_______".

I don't have to worry about that since I don't live in Florida.

Right, she stepped into lime light voluntarily, so the press should cover them and their marital "status"

Another reason not to trust odds. Players are trying to find a winner and it was already bought a month ago.

The point is that she is NOT married, thats why "married" is in parentheses.
