ronnie do you really think every clerk in the store (or the majority)do not care about their jobs and that is why they make the mistakes. i've stood behind people who aren't very lottery savvy and heard them ask the clerk for a ticket for tonights game. they might be wanting to play powerball and are asking for it on a day other than wed or sat. they don't have a clue. the poor clerk gives them a ticket for tonites game like they requested. customer sometimes checks and sometimes just stuffs in their pocket. who's mistake is that when the customer doesn't have a clue as to what game their playing or what day it is. it happens in every store every day especially when the jackpots are high. if the clerk tries to explain it that powerball is tomorrow the befuddled customer gets even more confused thus delaying the clerks finger resulting in a different set of numbers which may or may not work out.

i've stood behind people who aren't very lottery savvy and heard them ask the clerk for a ticket for tonights game.

If a person asks for "tonight's game" that's what they should get.

No one is expecting the clerk to be a mind reader.

I don't tip anyone.Everyone who has a job gets a paycheck for that job.If they take a job that requires tips to make a living wage, maybe they should ask their boss for for a raise or or quit that low paying job and get a job that does pay a living wage.I don't mean to sound like scrooge, but my money is hard to come by and I'm not gonna pay anyone through tips what their boss should be paying them through wages.Bosses are notorious for underpaying employees so that they (the bosses) can make more profit and I think it is wrong.I refuse to be held hostage to tipping!

Funny because I see tipping (to those who work for it) an opportunity to reward someone foe extra effort.

I will sooner give an extra $5. to a waitress then I will to someone standing on a street corner.

even if it results in a major win for you. most of the "mistakes" are by the customer (not anyone on here who are all lottery experts) but the ones who won't play unless they are guaranteed 100 million or more and don't even have a clue on what day the drawings are or what game has the big jackpot. those clueless players couldn't fill out a betting slip if their life depended on it. you've seen it we've all stood behind people and we roll our eyes when they ask for the wrong game or day. when we're not in the store the clerk faces this situation all day especially when the jackpots are up there. this nonsense of keeping the clerks mistake makes no logical sense but that is an option which entirely up to you. i still say those nh people should tip the clerk because they probably didn't make it clear what they wanted.

cletus the scrooge says it all. maybe if stopped selling your wormy and overripe corn to your farmstand customers people would tip you. i guess you don't eat out much (big suprise) and don't realize waitresses only make about 1.50 an hour and rely on tips to boost their pay.

Your overthinking it, because when the JP is 588 million and people come in saying "i would like a lottery ticket" its no mystery what they want.... The only question is..... $2. $10. or what???

The guy who won half the $588 million in AZ handed a $20. and said "I want $10." Just that simple.

If I asked for a QP and they hit PB instead of MM I would never turn it down even though its $10 not $5.

First off, just because I live in Iowa doesn't make me a farmer.I worked in a factory, not on a farm. No,i don't eat out much because I don't like some pimply faced waitress breathing down my neck so she can interupt my meal by saying stupid things like "can I warm up your coffee" or "is everything ok".If I wanted my coffee warmed up I would have stopped her and asked her to warm my coffee for me.If everything WASN'T ok,I would have told her about it.Her boss pays her a paycheck, she doesn't get an extra nickle from me to be a pain in the neck.I go to a restruant to eat,not to be constantly interupted by the waitress. As for the clerks at the grocery store, convenience store or wherever I buy my lottery tickets, they also get a paycheck for doing their job.If you feel the need to reward incompetance, have at it pal,but don't push your silly ideas on to me and expect me to tip someone that made a mistake.

yes, ronnie316. when once in a blue moon when the jackpot is 588 million 99 pct of the clerks assume that that is the game people want to play and it can go unsaid. but that doesn't happen that often, maybe twice a year. there are so many games and 70 different scratch off games in this state, you have to feel for the clerk when someone comes in over and over and asks for a 2.00 scratch ticket? which one the clerk says. oh i don't care you pick it says the customer. or they say has there been any winners in that book yet. i don't know i just came on says the clerk. you mean you don't keep track of them says the customer. no, says the clerk, rolling his eyes while impatiently waiting for the customer to make up his mind. this goes on all day in every store in the land. and you wonder why they make mistakes and get frustrated. that, coupled with quick pic dilemnas on the drawing games have made working in a convenience store hell. so when they hesitate on the quick pic button just a fraction of a second and give you a million dollar winner, yes you should tip.
